Other than Bruno, none of United's attacking players are particularly consistent. But thats not a problem because they have enough options they can rotate and keep each other competitive.

I don't think much to United's defence and it will still cause them problems but they can rely on 6 midfielders Van De Beek (still wish we'd signed him), Fred, Pogba, Bruno, Mctominay & Matic to provide balance and creativity.

Then Martial, Greenwood, Cavani, Mata, Rashford & James can all provide the end product. None are particularly on Kane or Son's level but they can be rested and can offer something different.

Jose really needs to give the likes of Bergwijn, Vinicius more game time and a different role so we are more dimensional.

Then Levy needs to go and add two CMs tp help us have a more balanced and creative midfield.

No, but nor are we and they are direct rivals for a top 4 place. The more points they drop the better.

imo they are certain for top 4 but i can't see them winning the league, i don't care where we finish in the top 4 but i think it will come down to 1 spot with City United Liverpool top 3

So Rashford's strike was a deflection into the Wolves net just like Salah's against us. They both got lucky. No?

They're no way as good as their position reflects but all it takes is a run of results/some lucky goals and your right up there.

massive transfer gaffe by us. Kane has to drop and do the job himself because we didn’t sign Bruno .

If we did and we didn't get GLC, the same rhetoric would be brought out for him too. We'd also have the "not backing the manager" because "Poch clearly wanted Lo Celso" and so on.

We couldn't get both because we still had Eriksen, who we couldn't sell because no one wanted him etc. It's just irrelevant and moot from so many angles. There's not even a guarantee that Fernandes would even look any different than Bale in our team, not least because we wouldn't have had as many favourable referring decisions that have helped their form, which in turn helps the form of the individuals.

This word lucky is such an oversused word.

You make your own luck. If you put pressure, if you take risks, if you put the opposition in a mess - that is down to you... not luck.

If there is a game where a keep makes 10 great saves and you lose, its not unlucky that you lose, you just didnt score and they have a keeper who made saves... its their job.

Luck is about stuff that happens that has nothing to do with you - taking a shot and yes it got deflected but the fact they took the shot means theyre creating that situation to happen...

Are people really turning this into complaining about our play style? We go third with a win tomorrow (covid permitting ofc). It’s a results game, and many different styles can get you results. We did it v United, Southampton by playing a more risky style (although Southampton was really just a lot counter attacks against a very high line). We did it v city, arsenal by defending deeper and being more conservative. We did it v burnley, west brom by playing a possession based game by necessity. The table at the end of the season and what we do in the cups will decide how we’ve done, not how we go about it, at least not for me and others who only care about points and wins. If we change up our style and win, good. If we keep our style and win, also good. I’d much rather be dyche and burnley than Potter and Brighton. Where has the expansive football brighton have played gotten them? I’ll judge the team on results; leave the way to go about getting the results to the manager, who is manager for a reason.

The key is the amount of players they have who are a threat in the final third. As you say, they don’t have anyone as good as either Kane or Son, but it’s not necessarily relevant because they have Rashford, Greenwood, Martial, Cavani, Bruno who are a capable of winning a game. Plus Mata and Pogba ( when he can be bothered). Even McTominay scored a couple the other week ( something that you can’t ever see Winks or Sissoko doing). Maguire is also a thread from set pieces.

Even if we give more of our other attacking options more minutes they just don’t have the same threat. On paper they may look decent, but there’s a big caveat with all of them except Kane and Son.

We’ve not replaced Eriksen’s final third contributions, nor Dele’s for that matter seeing as he’s not getting any minutes ( for reasons that I do understand to be fair).

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

his form is beyond scrutiny . He’s a phenom.
They are not Michu numbers they are Ronaldo numbers.

Irrelevant though, as there's absolutely no way you could predict the same performances around different players and especially in and after the car crash football we played in the final part of Poch's reign.

It's the same as expecting that Son would have this season's numbers in United's team - it complete disregards a style of play, cohesion with the players around them etc. It often also disregards the manager's influence - if Ole is coaching him like Harry Redknapp would then great, but you can't have 3 players doing that in one match, so you there's no way of determining that you can have Bruno whilst simultaneously having the same or better Kane/Son.

The laws of probability are such that there are just as many universes where Bruno was crap for us as there are where he was just as good - we don't get to pick and choose.

Thats what Im saying. If Cavani isnt a threat, they bring on others. Midfield is even better for options.

Kane should always be first pick but he also needs a rest from time to time. But the biggest issue we have is players not sharing the load.

We need to shed Lucas, and Bale if he can't be relied upon, and go and get another attacker in the summer. I still think Bergwijn will come good, he just needs more games and opportunities to shine.

Kane is better than anything United have but take him out and it swings more towards United in terms of better attack.

We desperately need to fix this.
