We need a massive gamble to win anything. And ENIC needs a massive gamble to sell at what they would want. The value of the club is tanking by the minute. With the amount of debt they’ve saddled us, the extreme disconnect and toxicity between club, trust & fans, the best striker in the world who is an academy product wanting to leave like yesterday. Stadium & training ground can only do so much. And what good are they when the team is stuck in the doldrums? Our value is taking a nosedive at the moment. And that is all on Levy.

Yankspurs massively over-reacting and proclaiming the death of the club?

Surely not!

That's all financial waffle. Harry Kane won't care too much about our financial position and it won't figure majorly in his thinking.

We are a club on the slide, with a load of underwhelming, declining players, and without a manager to rally around. We are a club with a negative vibe around it that plays a brand of football that is often painful to watch. We are a club that doesn't have a plan to turn its fortunes around. We're a club with a trophy cabinet that hasn't really been added to in living memory. We're a club that lacks the mentality and ambition to compete with the very best.
"To dare is to do" but Levy and Lewis have turned this motto into a complete joke. The only thing they have dared to do is to shamelessly enrich themselves at the clubs expense. And there is absolutely no chance of them changing their ways and going all out for sporting success.

Yes, we have - as you say - the financial wherewithal to hold on to Kane. But it would be a travesty to repay Kane for his loyalty by holding him here against his will. Harry Kane's outgrown this club to a large degree. And there's no more damning indictment of ENIC's misrule than that.

Really?

His £200,000 a week contract before bonuses, or whatever he is paid a week, over 6 years is worth £62.4 million to him. Think about that for a minute or two. He might not care about our financial situation but without it he wouldn’t be in the position to guarantee the Kane family and extended members don’t have to work a day in their lives for generations. It’s a business with people getting paid absurd sums, as much as it is a sport.

I find their analysis, insight and opinion pieces decent, overrated but definitely more enjoyable than anything you’ll find on Sky or BBC, but in terms of anything that requires insider knowledge they’re piss poor.
Ornstein is good for information. But other than him, they are generally poor in that area.

They may win the EL next week.
I think Harry will take a couple of cups here and there.

And Harry might well have won the PL, CL, FAC and LC with us. The opportunities were there.

If he's going to leave his boyhood club to collect winners medals, then there's no point signing for a club with only a marginally greater chance of winning trophies. He will need to be certain that he will win trophies at his new club - and not just second tier ones like the EL.

If anyone looks at the rest of that Swiss ramble thread and can’t see how strong we will be financially in the future then I give up. We just need to spend that money and spend it correctly. The stadium is the golden goose. We just need it to crack it’s way out the egg and at the moment it’s just tapping on the inside.

Players at the stage of his career Kane is at is a different proposition to a player who is 5/6 years younger and looking to be handsomely rewarded for their talent. We will be able to pay the wages of most of the top team in Europe. If we want to of course.

I think that's the issue, I don't think anyone has any confidence that it will get spent correctly.

You didn’t get the joke, that most people calling Levy baldy are pining for bald Bezos, did ya?

View attachment 87536

Nope I didn't get the joke, which I apologise about. Just as I apologise for sticking my nose in, re people's appearance.

It's just something I've always had an issue with & have always stood up for.

I see it as no different to watching the school bully pick on a kid for being overweight, or ginger etc. It's a personal thing, the very thing I used to take great pleasure out of whilst stomping on the bully in front of most of the school & then walking away with the overweight/ginger kid, making sure he knows he'll not be bullied again.

I do get highly strung over such things, so I'll apologise once again for sticking my nose in & derailing the thread.

I guess the irony is that I derailed the Harry Kane thread. The very same Harry Kane that people get up in arms about when some non funny **** from a rival teams fanbase mocks the way he speaks.

It's a funny old game!

Don't know if it's been said in here probably has but the BBC have said:

It is understood that Kane thinks he has a gentleman's agreement that would allow him to leave club this summer.

Yeah, we are both on the same side regarding this.

We need someone to almost come in and pick up the talisman mantle, for the life of me I can't think of anyone to do it from up top.

Really worrying when you look at our teams mentality already, Kane going will destroy a lot of them as well. He has literally carried us for a couple of seasons.

I'd rather build a team who are more than the sum of it's parts as opposed to relying on one player to always bail us out.

Poch did that very well to a point where we didn't miss Kane that much when he was out the team.

Someone who can have a similar impact to Bruno Fernandes at Utd would be ideal (especially if it meant we got as many penalties as them...they'd probably be about 6th right now if they got the same treatment as the rest of us on penalty shouts).

Very good shout, on both points.

Admittedly I am not a scout by any means but other than Grealish I can't think of any other player in the league that can have the impact. Looks like it would have to be abroad which presents its own risk in itself.

The press conference was a joke. Journalists seem to think hk is already been sold.
Oh stop. It's the biggest story in the Premier League. Journalists are hardly going to leave that topic alone. They are doing their job. This topic is going to dominate our press conferences and in pundit discussions about Spurs until a week or so after the Summer window closes(IF Kane is still here). Might as well get used to it.

Completely agree that we need a team more than the sum of its parts.

Just think if Kane leaves we are really struggling on players capable of running a game, a lot will hopefully be worked on by the new manager but I do think we need someone to lead from the front and help lift the club, Kane leaving will be so difficult for everyone fans and players.

Don't think we need to worry about it this season though.

As I said last night... unless we are missing something with regards to Real and Barca, there are no clubs outside of the PL that can pony up a min of 150 to 200m, (which will be the starting asking price). That only leaves two clubs with the financial clout to buy from that top shelf... City and Chelsea. Then, if you eliminate by his ’need’ to win trophies, that leaves City. Meaning, as far as this summer goes, Kane’s not going anywhere unless Pep and the City owners decide they want him. Which I think is unlikely as well. There isn’t much logic behind spending that amount, which even City have to stick to some sort of budget. Furthermore, Pep can buy three top class players this summer with that same amount, given the state of the market. So...unless they want it to happen, and can meet the asking price, or just about meet it, and throw in someone like John Stones... then, maybe a discussion can be held. Otherwise, from the current state of things (unless there is a lot of financial shit we are unaware of), Harry is stuck.

I have to say this is how it looks to me as well. It's just really unfortunate timing from Kane's perspective.

The way I see it going is something like:

1 - Two or three clubs, probably City Chelsea and United, make enquiries.

2 - Levy wants absolutely top dollar given the contract situation, what he means to the club, and the fact that it's him and he always wants top dollar etc. In this case though, he's probably justified in asking for it.

3 - After a bit of back and forth, City are the only team still in the running at the kinda of prices being quoted.

4 - City know they're the only game in town, and refuse to go any higher than the 120m or whatever it is they've already offered. Levy won't budge, and the window closes with him still at the club.

5 - Being from a spurs family, generally being all round decent bloke, and a model professional, Harry is disappointed but gets his head down and cracks on for the season as normal.

6 - This all gets dragged up again the following summer. And round we go again, with Levy's position slightly weakened but potentially more clubs willing to spend.

Absurd money. Totally puts it in perspective.

He may have an agreement but I can guarantee that agreement is only going to happen if a club puts in the right bid. I reckon levy would bulk at 110-120m plus a player.

If this stuff wasn't true, he'd have denied it by now

What they need to learn from the Bale money is: don't buy shit players

It's that simple
This is the same Bale had confirmed he wants to go back to Madrid. The best thing is for Harry to say nothing then he can't be accused of doing a Sol C***bell.
