I detest racism in any form but sadly there are racists out there. I honestly think that footballers taking the knee against racism is now proving counter productive. It’s been going on for a long time so I think it’s reasonable to accept that we understand what the players are supporting. I honestly believe it’s ‘winding’ racists and troublemakers up and they are continually being bloody obnoxious deliberately ,partly because of the taking of the knee.

Cannot understand your thinking at all..

Yeah it’s UEFA who are at fault for giving the English so much time to get drunk (n)

almost as bad as the poster the other day claiming it was the Danish fans fault for getting spat at because they wore Danish shirts.

It has happened before where ko times are moved forward for certain games due to likely crowd trouble. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's why matches like Rangers v Celtic are played at 12pm mostly.

A semi final and final in his last two tournaments. There’s not a chance in hell he’s being sacked and it’s bizarre people think he actually might

I agree theres no chance he will get sacked. The reason it may be mentioned is because though he may get us to the latter stages of tournaments with a favourable draw, he will not win one. No chance.

He was two penalties away from doing just that a few days ago.

Yes, and with the WC qualifyers just weeks away, there's not enough time for a new man however good. Deschamps can count the blessings too as I don't think France will sack him either.

Shouldnt have got to penalites and we wont always get favourable draws. This is of course entirely my opinion and maybe time will prove it incorrect. Southgate along with Martinez are unlikely to win anything though they have or have had largely talented resources. They may get fortunate like we did with great draws and tough teams knocked out before we face them and maybe they'll may not face managers who know how to change games. Of course luck is always welcome but some teams dont need luck.

And if Celtic and Rangers are playing each other in a future UEFA Champions League UEFA Evo Stik North Conference Final, I'm sure they won't move the kickoff up.

My

I always thought it was bad in Italy from what I’ve seen on TV but my fiancé is black and her sister is married to an Italian. They’ve travelled all over and never encountered any problems. Her in laws live in a small village in southern Italy. Contrast that with Spain and she has said she has heard some racist remarks.

Clearly she hasn’t hung out with Roma ultras but I thought it was quite interesting as my perception was that the problem in Italy was quite bad.
Isn’t it Russia, Hungary and a few others where there is racism in football? I can’t recall anything too much in the Premiership except that Chelsea player complaining* of monkey chants by a Spurs fan and none of our top notch technology could detect anything untoward.
Might be wrong but didn’t the ‘taking the knee’ originate with what happened to George Floyd in the U.S not what’s been happening at Premiership grounds?

Or saying the Danes deserved getting bullied because 1200 years ago they pillaged England and raped their women

Put it like this, has racism decreased as a result of ‘taking the knee?’
Has there been a great deal of racism at Premier League grounds in the past ?

As someone else mentioned, the people who are racists now will stay racist, however children will be asking what taking the knee is about and will be educated about some of the desparites and it is likely if they are from the right familes they will not join uneducated mobs in their actions due to ignorance in the future.

People keep going on about only getting to where we did because of these favourable draws. Fact is we've been knocked out numerous times in recent history by teams we absolutely should be beating on paper. There is so much talent in this side at the moment and they are so young. They are absolutely capable of beating any team in the world on any given day.

Yes I think we will need to tweak a few things and play a bit more on the front foot, but these kids will have another 18 months behind them.

My biggest concern pre tournament was at the back but I think it's fair to say it's not the issue it looked to 6 weeks or so ago.

Walker, Maguire and Shaw all looked super solid and exceeded expectations. Add in Stones Wight chilwelll and James and there's more good young options.

Not forgetting TAA, he would be perfect to play in Trippier's position if we went three at the back with Walker as the RCB. His delivery is the best in the squad. Was a miss.

Southgate is suffering from "Allardici" syndrome. He's produced the two best tournament finishes since the '66 - better than many more reputable managers with arguably better players. If you put those performances with him in a Guardiola costume, people would be gobbling his root.

Couple of years ago I thought that after Dele there was not much coming through in central or attacking midfield but then along come Rice,Philips, Saka, Mount,Foden. Hopefully Konsa will get a chance soon .Look at the choices now at right back, Walker amd Trippier haven5 got ages left but Reece James, Alexander Arnold and unlucky Wan Bissaka. We could do with a few serious young Kane rivals , current back ups a bit overrated.
Things are looking promising but these young players need to be moulded by someone besides Southgate.

What about the children of the uneducated mobs though, when they ask their uneducated yobbish dads what taking the knee is about, what answer will they get?
