Yeah but it's all day every day. Nothing has changed. We aren't selling him, or at least not for below £200m. And yet they keep peddling it ...
It's nothing to do with whether they think he's leaving or them think he's not. It's whether they think folks still care. And part of insuring they still care is not letting it drop for a few days. They seem like a dog with a bone, for sure, but it's more about creating/maintaining the saga as it is about the 'transfer', itself. There's easy content to sell here.

Regardless of how things have been handled I'm glad we're not only digging our heels in but showing intent with transfers. Hopefully Kane will be satisfied that we have ambition to go on and win things. He shouldn't be in a rush to leave at his age.

While I'd say he's easily odds on to leave next year, I still think there's a small chance he ends up staying long term.

Next summer Levy will still be asking for 120+ million for a 29 year old player. Will City or Utd pay that? Possibly, but it's feasible that he's once again priced out of a move or City and Utd decide to look at younger/cheaper options. Meanwhile we might have (somehow) forced our way back into the CL conversation and suddenly are a more attractive option. It's early days with Paratici but he's clearly a winner and extremely persuasive - with a few more positive signings we could be a different proposition.

Then another year down the line he's 30 and Levy's now asking for 70-80 million for a player with 1 year left on his contract but does anyone bite? It's a lot of money for a player that age and you have to assume Utd and City would have spent their money elsewhere.. At that point he might just decide to go full Shearer and double down with a big contract at Spurs with an eye to being our all time top scorer and join the pantheon of all time greats. Gerrard was extremely close to signing for Chelsea, and Rooney was very close to leaving Utd, but despite all of the media speculation both ended up sticking around. Toby looked like he was 100% gone for about 18 months then lo and behold he signed a new deal once Jose arrived - it's not impossible that Kane does the same.

If I had to bet I'd put money on Kane being at City by the end of next summer, but things change in football and who the hell knows how different things will be in a year's time.

Teddy is the reason I support Spurs. No one in my immediate or extended family supported Spurs and at the age of 4 I was asked who I was going to support. I asked who Teddy played for and my family told me he had just signed for Tottenham from Nottingham Forest. We had family friends who were Spurs fans who took me to watch us at home against Middlesbrough where he scored in a 2-2 draw. From that moment I fell in love with Tottenham. My parents weren't best pleased as it cost them a fortune every other week to send me down to watch us ?.

To sum it all up, Teddy isn't a Spurs legend on the face of it but he's a legend to me and the reason I support this wonderful club!

Agree.

Hoddle and Gazza are what originally drew me to Spurs, but I remember modelling my game after Teddy's. Such an intelligent all round centre forward.

Agreed on these. Modelled my game on Waddle as a kid, idolized Gazza, but as I moved on to be a striker it was Teddy who I adored (Even though I got called Beardsley in school; hopefully for my style of play and not my face!). Loved Teddy so much I named one of my dogs after him.

Love this story mate. Teddy was a beautiful player and Spurs icon on and off during the 90’s. Was right to move on when he did but great that he came back.

The way their arms form an X in this picture on Harry’s IG indicates they’re both on their way out. Talk about hidden messages

He is. Although it's been that way for weeks. Not that anyone would believe City would take ages to sign a player. That only happens at Spurs.

Apparently Man City are waiting for him to get back from holiday and then he will sign with them. Then they will push for Kane (badly, hopefully).

It must mean the likelihood of them signing HK slightly diminishes if they do. You’d be looking at £250m on 2 players. I know they’ve got the money, especially if they sell but even so, that would be a staggering outlay.

If they can spend 250 mill without getting money on sales FFP is a joke........

Hasn’t it been suspended this year due to Covid? Now is the time to do it if so.

I thought it was not so much suspended as rolled over into 2022’s figures. ?‍♂️

edit: not quite right. UEFA agreed that the financial years of 2020 & 2021 could be assessed as a single period.
