Totally agree. He may well think he has a 'gentleman's agreement' with Levy but the club definitely has a perfectly legal and binding one with him. Nobody held a gun to his head when he signed (what was then) a very lucrative deal. It would be so sad if it ends acrimoniously (one of my words learnt this week (y)).

stick around :) if this escalates, you'll be learning some more very useful 'words' (y)

Whatever it is, I'm glad we have Paratici this season to sort him out. He definitely wouldn't make it easy and still benefit us. The pro will fix the amateurs.

If you think Kane + a shit defence is a better team than an average striker + a solid defence, you are off your rocker. Chelsea last season are a classic example. Sell the bloke, invest in the defence and a new striker, move on.

This talk of a gentleman's agreement is pure conjecture. Nobody on either side of this agreement has come out and said anything, there's been no evidence to support it being real. The only tangible thing they have between them is a 6 year contract.

Carragher summed it up perfectly here. I trust he has far more insight on transfer dealings than what reporters learned in media school

He signed the contract of his volition, I agree he should respect and meet all the conditions of said contract. If he is utterly desperate to leave then hand in a transfer request.

If Harry was happy to sign the contract, then to help facilitate his transfer he should be happy to pay the money back from breaking his contract?

I am sure that one or two players in the past have brought there contract out, or do clubs now factor the remaining contract of a player into the asking price?

You are so right!
More clicks and subs to read their sh1t!
I’m so suspicious of much of the online mainstream media, as the whole model of income is click advertising in volume. So I take most of the stories with a pinch of salt as they deliberately sensationalist.

Lol Carragher nailing it there!

We’ll wait for Neville to come out in support of Kane’s actions and perhaps share a pic of the, together on the golf course for good measure!

Would be very surprised if it's only Man City in his hear. Could be a few other English clubs in for him.
I was hoping PSG and Poch would go for him, but if Poch knows Kane's role in his dismissal, then he is propably not interested. Maybe Mourinho will force the new owners of Roma to buy him. :) prefer him to leave the EPL.

This is it for me. When Kane was negotiating the contract he was in a position of power.

He could have signed a shorter contract or got a release clause put in.

There doesn't seem to be consensus on why he isn't in training today.

As fans we've invested so much in Harry Kane that I think we owe it to ourselves to wait one day before the condemnation. It's not beyond possibility that he's not due in today/Covid test etc.

If he doesn't turn up tomorrow then it is pretty much beyond doubt (positive Covid test notwithstanding) that he's refusing to train. I'm giving this 24 hours then we'll know for sure, irrespective of what Sky say.

If we really want him the stay we could try Liverpool’s tactics with gerrard ? Start burning Kane shirts outside of the stadium and going mental in the hope he makes a U-turn

Well, looks like we are going to get that full rebuild sooner rather than later. I think Kane leaves this summer, and at this point, I’m fine with it. Just hope we can get it done soon so Paratici can have some more fun with the money.

By handing in a transfer request he would be losing that 10% loyalty payment (should he get the transfer), whereas by going on strike he is only losing a few days pay..........all clubs should write it into contracts that a strike to push a transfer is akin to a transfer request and negates any loyalty payments due.

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more.

What he deserves is to be paid the huge salary that he chose to sign a six year contract for. If he wanted to keep his options open, he should have negotiated a shorter contract length on a lower salary.
My "deserve" part is just based on our current squad, i understand the contract and the least we can demand is that he acts like a professional, thats why he will lose my respect if he misses training, but i understand players wanting to go even when you have a contract. We buy players that are under contract and put pressure on their clubs, i just dont like the way Kane chose to do it. He didnt show up in important moments, but i think we failed him for the last couple of years, i wouldnt understand his choice if he was 25, but he is 28 and with some injury record that doesnt do him any favours. I dont think we will turn it around before he is 30 and he clearly doesnt want to give us the chance

Fair play to Carragher. He's not one to stoke the fire like the likes of Neville, Ferdinand and co. He does apply a bit of common sense to these matters whereas the others come out with the 'He needs to leave to win' lines.

Let’s not start copying the ‘special’ Liverpool fans, bless them they are an odd lot.

I think it’s great he’s being vilified for his actions. The media connects players and fans — and they’re convinced he’s done something today that’s extremely unprofessional.

He’s experiencing the public reaction. It’s now up to him to decide if he wants to continue down this route and receive public backlash and hate.
