Hmm, not registered for these conference league playoff games? So he is still some way off with whatever re-conditioning program Nuno and team have him on.

Some of our other players look so much better under Nuno and the efforts they have made in training (Lucas, Sanchez and Dier all spring to mind and look like totally different players under this system or with the fitness/confidence found under Nuno). Actually the one on one duels training seemed really apparent in the game today. If they can do that with those players imagine what they could do for a guy as talented as Tanguy even if it does mean he has to keep at triple training sessions and no games for another month. Could be well worth it in the long run.

I've been convinced for a couple weeks now that the most likely outcome for Ndom is either he is sold/swapped this summer or we see him gradually get integrated around late September/October time-frame. Fitness or not Nuno wants a higher press style than Jose did and it took Ndom a while to come to terms with what Jose wanted defense wise. I also think Nuno is trying to ease himself in to how much midfield frailty he can flex with the defense he has after watching the tape on Spurs last year. That's why Skipp and PEH are both starting alongside Dele (who I would back as the best defensively of him, Celso, and Ndom - likely in that order) even if Skipp and PEH don't give you much offensively and Dele is better up the pitch.

This would make sense. If we ignore the fitness discussion for a bit, a player like Tanguy might make more sense once we have our new look back 4 acquired and settled.

Good shout. Nuno has clearly watched our games last year and quickly figured out one of our more glaring issues; our midfield was constantly overrun. And defending against another team, requires everyone in the outfield to work as a cohesive unit. Far too many times last year, we’d be on the back foot. You can scream and shout about it being Jose’s tactics and that is largely true. But for a team to effectively work on the fast break, you need a midfield that can suffocate the middle. We saw that today against what was a good City side. So, I’m not surprised they want Tanguy to be at a certain fitness level to gel with the way Nuno wants the Midfielders to play. Could take another month or more. But it mostly depends on whether Tanguy is committed or not. Time will tell.

The fact you’re seeing him in training, the club actually promoting him with tweets on social media. He looks happy and slim makes this whole situation very odd. Tbh I’m really not the bothered now, it’s hard to see him fitting into the team yesterday. Who’s place is he taking ? Dele ? Who ran most distance of anyone on the pitch, Ndombele isn’t gonna give you that. We’d be lucky to get £30m now. Might just have to cut our losses. By the way I really hope I’m wrong, and his prolonged absence is because Nuno is trying to work some miracle fitness regime on him.

I really think this is it tbh.

Nuno’s philosophy here looks to be fast, high intensity football and he needs players who are in top shape. As much of a talent he is, Ndombele is not that. Hopefully he has Tanguy on board and they’re working to build his fitness.

I think the club really wants him to succeed and aren’t rushing him back for the sake of it (similar to Bale last season)

Pretty clear why he wasn’t in the squad after watching that performance- the levels of fitness and determination the lads showed today…. Ndombele can’t come close to that.

After watching the game yesterday I’m more convinced than at any point over the last two years that he doesn’t have a future with us.

I want ndombele to stay, and I still believe he can have a big future with us. Yes I'm disappointed that he hasn't got himself fully fit for the start of the season, but he's clearly slimmed down a bit. I trust nuno to get him fit enough to play for us a lot more than I trusted Jose's 'do your own fitness work' regime.

I just think it might take him a bit longer before nuno believes he's fit enough to work in his system, but if he's working him hard on the training ground, I'm positive we'll see the benefits around September. Yes it's not ideal that it could take around a month, but the guy is so naturally gifted I think he's worth the risk.

With that said, this probably is last chance saloon for him. He probably realises that too, and if he can't succeed here, he won't get too many big clubs from around Europe looking into him next season.

I think he's going to come back suddenly, long after everyone has given up hope. In the shape of his life. And be our best player for the remainder of the season

I know it’s still early days, but in his short time with us, Nuno has improved a lot of players and I would like to give him some time to see if he can improve Ndombele.

Exactly might take a few weeks but let's wait and see.

Could come back in a few weeks fitter and stronger than ever.

I don't think it matters how fit you get Tanguy he just doesn't have the mentality Nuno requires. He doesn't even work hard enough to get on the ball to do what he's good at nevermind getting him to work off the ball to get it back.

I think he is so skilful that it hindered his development growing in other areas of the game.

We could carry him against so called lesser teams but I don't think Nuno will be prepared to indulge any player against the unity and togetherness of the group.

He had a full pre-season and still isn't considered selectable as one of 18 outfield players. Astonishing.

I really hope we find a buyer/loaner and move on. He can stroll around elsewhere.

He should be fit now, a basic requirement for any player not suffering from injury. People go in about Kane disrespecting his colleagues, thus guy is every bit as bad.

It's not just about fitness, Kane and Sessegnon aren't fit but they are registered for ECL, it's more than that.

Too bad there are not that many clubs that could go for him. Inter would be an obvious choice if they had money, swapping him+cash for Lautaro would be a wet dream, but tbh I can't see it happen.

The time to sell to Inter was last summer when they were splashing the cash like crazy. They wouldn't come anywhere near Ndombele now given his wages.

It's an awful market to try and get rid of him atm. I think we've just got to hope this is a temporary blip and Nuno can get something out of him come September/October cos I can't see him going anywhere, even if we want rid.
