When is Conte doing the press conference today?

Usually midday he does them. Should be interesting what he says about Hitchen. Few reports have said they built a really good relationship and Conte says exactly what he feels....

I think he's simply had better offers from Everton/Newcastle to be DoF. Whether he gets on with Fabio or not his role was lessened after he came in.

January was never the window for Conte being 'backed' and what does backing him even mean... for me its about rebuilding that squad in his philosophy and image so to speak - that is never going to happen in a window.

The summer is where it is at - but the work for that started ysterday so to speak and needs to progress until end of the summer window but id go as far as to say before pre season is where our squad needs to be established by. The issue is CL or no CL may well determine that so we will see...

I think it panned out the way Trix said it would. Priority was clearing the decks in anticipation of a busy Summer window. A couple of grafters have been brought in and a couple of inexperienced players have been shipped out on loan. I think he has been backed, especially when you consider just how much it must stick in Levy's craw to take such a massive hit on a record signing and a player who was touted at 80m a short while ago.

He's pulling no punches here about Lo Celso and ndombele!

Never a truer word spoken Tony. Those two signings set us back for the last 3 years and maybe even more in future. I trust Conte to spot a player but also to spot the character within the player.

Seems to me Kilpatrick draws a different conclusion from those quotes than Eccleshare and Gold.

Wonder if he sees Gill as a mistake ? I can understand Ndombele and Lo Celso.
It does seem like he's implying that. He says he thinks Gil is a really good player but follows that by more or less saying he doesn't have the physical profile to make it in the Premier League. He then talks about it being important not to make mistakes in the market.

I.e. Don't make the mistake of signing talented players who don't suit the style of the league.

I think Gil will have a big career, but he really doesn't strike me as a Conte player at all. I think he could make it in England, but not playing in this type of system (and bulking up a little would also help ofc).

These quotes are going to have people up in arms and criticising the window.

I haven't seen the presser yet but surely he means it's strange on the surface because you are sending your two biggest transfers in history/recent memory out on loan? Not that the business the club did this window was strange. Just the circumstances around it have been.
