I mean, they still need to raise money by the end of the month? Be interesting to see how they do it. Does seem this one is gone.
Who cares how they do it!!! We move on. It's their problem. There are others out there who the Don and Paratici will go for.

Inter are one of the well run clubs in world interms of recruitment- no wonder even if they want to cash out 60m they have so many options . Looks as though , PSG willing to pay big money for Skriniar which could have changed stance on Bastoni

There are other good LCB option in market.
Hope we do the Torres deal or hijack Bremer deal from Inter if we can

The targets for LCB are very underwhelming, and not great. I include Torres in that. Can’t defend, poor in the air. We did sniff Carmo. Out of what I have seen on the list thus far, he is the best option.

Not great news if we do not get him, as all indications are he was AC no.1 choice. Yes there will be alternatives , but keeping AC happy and in place has to be the number 1 priority, hopefully he is only too aware what twats Inter can be and will he happy with an alternative.

Extremely disappointing reading today's part of the thread in one go - got excited seemed certain we were getting bastoni and then a couple pages later its dead. Fucking rollercoaster.

Carmo is an interesting one. Klopp really pushed for him previous season and he got a horrific injury. Come back and been really good again. Completely forgot about him in all honesty!

Carmo is an absolute unit

He's got a Van Dijk-esque physique - I'm not surprised Klopp was keen before his injury.

If he's over his injury problems, he could be an astute signing.

Thanks for the info as always. So annoying, but the only solace I take is that we have davies who is playing well and quite frankly I would rather have him than torres who I agree is not good.

Is this a glue? Only kiddin.
but who does this refer to?

David Carmo at Braga. 22, absolute giant, left footed. He was brilliant in Portugal and the next big thing. When Liverpool had the horrific defensive problems, Klopp pushed for him but he then got a horrific injury. Came back this season and was very good again.

Watched him vs Rangers in Europa and was the best player both legs.

Not sure hes got the ability on the ball for Conte, probably why Torres is more likely but I could easily see a Wolves or Leicester getting him and then other teams go "why didnt we take a punt". We shall see.

I don't mind Torres personally. Think he needs some work but that's what Conte does. Fundamentals are good imo.

From Wiki:

Carmo is predominantly left-footed, and his size is a significant factor in his defensive style and ability. He is a front-foot defender that engages in both ground and aerial duels, seeking to cut out danger at source by stepping in to intercept passes or muscle attackers off the ball. His physicality enables him to be a dominant presence, especially in the air.[22]

Carmo also possesses quality in possession. His long-range distribution is one of the main features of his skillset, as he is adept at pinging switch passes to the opposite wing or driving a pass down the channel.

I just feel he isnt suited at all to the english league but Conte and Paratici will know much better than some of us.

Well, I'm going to point out the positive here. The window hasn't even opened yet and I'd rather be dicked around now than with 3 days left before the window to shut.

It's always been the case with us where we put so much work into one player only to get nothing as the time has run out.
Credit to our recruitment dept, it's definitely a massive change than what we're used to.

I don’t think Ben Davies should be ruled out as the best option. It’s his place to lose after all but we do need cover there.

CBs in a back3 need not be a perfect defender. Formation essentially masks the problems. For Conte, LCB has to be more positionally aware, able to be good on ball , able to switch plays through diagonals and join attack when possible.
This is why David Luiz for all his flaws was one of the first signing for Conte at Chelsea in 2016.

Davies does provide that cushion for us - we can certainly go to the market and take a risk or two for the LCB position even if player has a flaw or two that could be worked upon

it feels like the agent is playing for a bonus pay off from Inter as it’s the club demanding the sale and not the player. Just football chess
