Yup...... nothing to really get excited about free transfers get done the quickest. It's just a start..... we need some quality beyond Perisic& Eriksen and proper planning to compete for trophies AND future proof our squad.

Basically it's a decent start to the window.... let's see Paratici do his thing and build a great squad in the coming 2 months until the window closes.
Lolz. You can understand people getting a bit carried away as we could have four signings sorted mid-June. It’s unprecedented in recent times - and whilst it’s not the end of our business that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve credit to be given where it is due.

Just entered the thread. Nice start to the weekend.

Eriksen and Spence = creativity and pace. Great additions.

Eriksen along with Spence and Perisic would be a great start to the window. But save the calls of genius for now.
That actually would be a really good window right there with just those three players, especially if all in for the first day of pre-season.

Need to be giving Levy some credit here. I was super critical of him this time last year, but leopards apparently do change their spots.

I know I've said numerous times he's taken a back seat, but that is a backseat in picking the targets. He had and has been busting a gut to get what Conte wants. The cynic in me says he's doing it because he has no choice.

The romantic in me says he's doing it because this was his vision from the outset. Stadium, training ground, coach, then team.

Only part of this that isn't up for debate is that for whatever reason he's backing Conte and FP to the hilt and that should be applauded.
Plus he has seen how Chelsea value has soared due to success on the pitch....

More importantly adding something we lack and gives us options.

I think it's been a good start, especially given most of the budget is still left for other key positions.

Can anyone remember was it 6 or 7 in, that ITK said we were looking to do?

What I love most is how early we're getting business done and the business itself. Perisic, Forster and Eriksen all experienced in different ways. Perisic and Eriksen league winners under Conte. Perisic winner elsewhere too. Eriksen and Forster know the Prem.

I think it was a minimum of 7.

Perisic, Forster, Eriksen, Spence, LCB, CM and forward in, Rodon, Reggie, Winks, Ndombele, GLC and Bergwijn still to go out.

That would be an amazing window, but I wonder if we’re one short up front especially if it’s a target man type that comes in. We’d have Kane, Son, Kulu, Lucas plus new guy. So for wide forward Lucas is the only real cover. I wonder if we might bring in one more (or someone who can play 9 or wide), bring Gil back and/or give Scarlett more opportunities?

Credit should be going to Conte and FP. Clearly great communication between them and Conte knows what he wants and isn't afraid to say it. I think this is what a truly world class manager with leverage can achieve.

It helps Levy when the players have been free transfers as he doesn't have so much financial risk to weigh up.

Either way all positive for the club and us fans and hopefully we'll get the rest of the missing pieces soon.

I think I remember reading potentially up to 8 players coming in?

GK (Forster)
RWB (Spence)
LWB (Perisic)
LCB (Bastoni or another)
CCB (?)
CM (Bissouma, McKennie or another)
CAM (Eriksen)
Forward (Jesus, Richarlison or another)

ITK has suggested the forward will be a "big 'un" as Conte likes a physical presence up top. Saša Kalajdžić and Gianluca Scamacca are two players we have reportedly got interest in.

I do wonder whether some of the kitty will be held back until the winter window to allow us to tweak the squad if necessary? I don’t think we should be too worried if we don’t spend all £150m this summer.

I don't know how it works, just when the 150m was announced it was also said it needed to be spent by the end of the year. Not in our official statement, but elsewhere.
So whatever's left over goes on the Christmas party, nice

Perisic has spent most of his career as a wide forward so can also play there

Also said it wasn’t all for player transfers too although most people seem to ignore that. Whilst the majority should go on transfers there will be some placed into the club operations I’m sure

Really excited by the continuing good vibes.
Christian coming home will be massive. We have had an Eriksen size hole in the squad since he left.
Spence is an exciting signing. Young and ambitious is the impression I get and I like it.
Obviously other areas that need work but what a great start.

So nice to see us approaching this in this way and just getting the job done early doors. Really such a statement of intent.

If we win nothing else, it's definitely looking like we're going to win this transfer window :sneaky:
