Late entry for "shitiest post of the year" right here. ;)
Yeah

only on a bloody forum which is full of non match going fans do you not just tolerate, not just accept but almost actively encourage behaviour of non match going fans criticising and telling the lifeblood of the club (the match going fans)what they should and should not do from their couches.
What the fuck right do you really think you have to do that ?

The constraints aren't about how much we spend in total - but what we spend it on and how much we're willing to spend on any given player

Levy's scattergun approach of buying cheap youngsters with "potential" is really a "buy cheap, buy twice" strategy in too many cases - with players held on for too long, not up to scratch or not what the manager needs/wants

Those are the constraints people are referring to
But do you not think there's a reason to the scatter gun being that many of our biggest outlays didn't work out and most of our biggest successes have been of the bargain/young variety?

Since the 19/20 season 6 of our 10 biggest transfers have occurred so its not like we're refusing to push the boat out for key players, it's more that when we do it hasn't worked out - Romero being the one exception so far.

For all of those who think we are going backwards under Conte this season, and just for the shits and giggles, I looked up where we stood after 16 games for each of the last 10 seasons.

This year, we are 4th, with 30 points, 33 goals scored, and 23 goals conceded.

In the last 10 years - we have been in the top-4 at this stage, in only 1 other year - 18/19 when we were 3rd. Last year we were 5th, 20/21 and 19/20 we were 7th.

30 points was only bettered in the 18/19 season, and equaled in the 16/17 season.

We have scored 33 goals - that is the most in the last 10 years (and in our history) after 16 games.

Where we have struggled is conceding 23 goals - that is the most we have conceded in the last 10 years (tied with the 19/20 season).

When Conte says he needs experienced defenders - he is telling the truth.

Yeah we are definitely not going backwards. I do believe that we have reached some limitations with what Conte can do with this group but that's largely down to the defence.

Dier, Davies, Sanchez and Tanganga have shown that when a new coach comes in, they lift performances slightly but simply cannot maintain them beyond a couple of months.

Many believe that by playing on the front foot, this will change. Yet we have seen the likes of Dier and Sanchez make huge errors in a high line.

For example, how many times has Dier tried to play on the front foot and missed the challenge, thus getting exposed? How many times has Sanchez failed with a long ball over the top that he cannot judge the flight of?

They just have too many weaknesses in them, and as a group it's even worse.

And I don’t want to see “fans” from abroad who never go to matches try and tell fans that do spend their money following their club round country and Europe what to do.
So basically pipe down
One of the most bizarre, dickish things I’ve read on SC. And there has been doozies.

I have supported Spurs since our family moved to London in 1980. I grew up in the UK but was born in NYC. I moved to the States in 1996.

I have missed less than ten games since 2000, when Fox got rights to televise most games. I have only ever attended 6 games my whole life. Not that I don’t want to, just circumstantial.

I have probably spent over $1000 on merch and other Spurs shit over that time. I live and breathe for this team. But in your mind, I’m not a real supporter?

A small minded, bigoted comment. Check your biases. As an attitude like that is a fixed mindset, unable to evolve. Just wants to wallow in their own little ditch of douche.

Have fun.

Indeed, another 5 year project incoming with our top players forcing their way out along the way to win trophies now. Levy has learned nothing, and all the talk about the stadium being a game changer was just that, talk. He wants us to be the EPL version of Dortmund buying young and still winning trophies. What he fails to understand is that in the Prem there is more than just one team to compete with. You can't use forecasts and spreadsheets to build a successful team in the EPL, end of story.

Our only hope is that VL can force him out imo, but even that has gone a bit quiet.
Doom and gloom again. Yippee. We really are a bit of a clown car at times.

So, basically it would appear Conte is off. Along with any good players we have because Daniel is being too frugal and has effectively lied to Conte? Wow. He must really not give a crap about his reputation. As this isn’t just egg on his face, it’s ten pounds of feces. He will be the laughing stock of all chairmans around the world for doing this.

What player would come to us now? Why the hell should Poch come back when this bald little bitch stabs everyone in the back. Including him.

Not a single iota of sense behind this. Yeah, Danny has done some dumb shit but this is incomprehensible.

It just seems really weird and explainable that Levy would do a U-turn on everything that we have been led to believe that he'd committed to over the last year or so (serious investment, staying out of the football side of things).

I think he committed to the Conte project knowing that he didn't have much option.

As we are now approaching a third window where significant spend is required, he's probably having second thoughts.

Daft though - if you're going to start something - see it through, surely?

so the club is looking to buy players like Romero, bentancur, Kulu etc? Tbh I have no problem with that. These are the really only bright sparks in the squad, give me a team with aggressive young (23 up) and I’m happy

Imagine if we stopped al the punts on Gil, Nkoudou, N’jie, Spence, Sarr and instead used that money to invest in a player or 2 the manager actually wants.

why are we still trying to unearth the next Lennon, etc - just go and buy the ready made proven thing.
Since he's been here how many signings have we made that he doesn't want? I think we could definitely say Spence (although it is WAY too early to claim he won't earn a spot eventually).

Anyone else?

Hmmm. '"fans" from abroad' shouldn't have a say?

What are you, 2 years old?

You're obviously too far up your own opinionated arse to understand the cost of following Spurs abroad.

Here in the US, I have to pay an exorbitant amount of money on four, yes FOUR, TV channels (ESPN+ for the cup games, Paramount for European games, Peacock for some of the league games, and Directv for the rest of the league games, PLUS SpursPlay for all friendlies, PLUS travel to my local official Spurs club, plus international mail for merchandise (the merchandise itself costs a fortune), PLUS airfare, hotel, etc. to come over and watch them play live.

Also, this '"fan" abroad' was a season ticket holder at Spurs (probably) before your parents were even born, when I traveled up and down the country to watch us get nearly relegated, then relegated, then promoted (those were the days!).

Before answering me with another inane comment, please take a moment to change your nappies and, oh yes, pipe down.

If the worst comes to the worst I want a start from fresh. Sugar daddy, rich oil Arab nation whatever. Levy out of football matters at the very least. Kane and Son as much as that pains me to say.

Get Jenas in. Whatever.

Would love conte to be backed with what he wants but it ain’t happening and his style of play isn’t exactly cock hardening, think we know what happens he goes.

Kane will go hopefully we can hold onto Deki.
Then a huge rebuild

Kane goes if Conte does, I'm sure of that.
Honestly becoming more and more numb to this. He made it clear last year that he’s not in it for the long haul so planning around him wouldn’t be wise.

Who knows, we could get some people who actually want to be at the club. Can’t be fucked begging people to stay who don’t want to.
