You think everybody reacts the same way to gaining size ? I can assure you in most cases when people add a lot of muscle they get slower the very odd few the minority can carry speed with them.
Agree... but there's a difference how you do it... I'm not saying Sarr or Gil should puff up like Rice Crispies... but more core strength and power in the legs is not a bad thing when it's done correctly according to body-type.

He did himself no harm last night. Always good to see a younger player grab a chance when given it.

What is everyone's obsession with players bulking up? 2 years later you're all complaining they haven't got 90 pace in FIFA.

I watched Sarr shrug off what I can only describe as 3 attempted 'man-handles' before finally being hacked down last night. He's fine.
Not sure 'bulking up' is the right phrase to describe what we are hoping will happen. I think what is meant is to develop a 'robustness' that comes from regular competitive football. The kind of strength that comes from constant physical contact, twisting, turning and jumping in match situations, not necessarily weights in the gym and protein shakes.

It might be a bit of a push, but I'd love him to start and get 60+ minutes against Portsmouth on Saturday. At least another 30 off the bench though. He could be a massively important player for the rest of the season if last night is the benchmark.

I’d say it’s less “bulking up” and more just naturally filling out. Lad is 20, I expect his body will naturally fill out over the next couple of years.

But, I agree he has what he needs now, and will just get stronger.

Another example is Leon Goretzka from Bayern... I think it's more like that.. he's a better player after "bulking up" Ronaldo-style :)

Former team-mate, Jan Kirchhoff, has also been left impressed with Goretzka's new look.

He added: "He gained a few pounds, but has not lost speed and agility.

"The fact that he has again improved athletically has certainly helped him. He now has the perfect mix.

Same position as Sarr.

Keeps moving doesn't he? Passes the ball then follows it - no suggestion that he thinks his job is done once he's found a team-mate. Sounds like such a basic skill but it's a mentality thing rather than technical. If he's got it at that age then he'll always have it.

Yeah I thought he was impressive. Hopefully he gets a few more opportunities

I don't want to get carried away but there was a certain manager in the opposite dugout last night who would be someone he could hopefully base his game on.

Also, and more importantly, another at our training ground.

I enjoyed watching that again as I didn't quite see the hype - not that I thought he did badly, but I hadn't clocked all the movements etc. He did very well given the context and I look forward to seeing how he asserts himself.

Completely agree. Not watched that video but whilst watching the game last night I watched him pass to one of our CBs and he then absolutely fucking sprinted just be able to make an angle to receive it back.

I liked that. Shows very good work ethic.

I don't know about bulking up but he has only just turned 20 and so is still growing and filling out.

Find me a 25 year old that will tell you they aren’t far far stronger than they were when they were 20. Developing “man strength” really is a thing and it happens naturally
