Cycle needs to be broken or we are going backwards. Let’s see if Conte commits. Let’s stop giving those players who want him out what they want. They should be the ones who are gone not the manager. I really hope levy convinces conte to sign a new contract as it shows we are making strides to be different.
Just No.

If Ryan does get the caretaker job , according to the match reports he used a 4-2-3-1 formation in the six matches he was in charge after Jose was sacked.

People hated him for picking Winks over Ndombele as I recall. But let’s be honest, every manager has done that since we bought the lazy bugger. Mason wasn’t wrong to do that, but everyone accused him of “picking his mates.”

For me it was not starting bale in the final.

I want to be optimistic about top 4 but what is immediately concerning me is that run of 3 consecutive fixtures of Newcastle A, Man Utd H, and Liverpool A in the next few weeks, where we need to break the habit of a season by not being inconsistent, standing up, being brave and not buckling under severe pressure in those games, especially the two away fixtures and somehow coming away with 7 points at least from these 3 fixtures. If we come away from those three with 0-4 points then we can pretty much consign 4th place to the bin for this season.

I agree. That little fixture run is where we could really slip up. But Brighton at home before that is also very important as arguably they are our biggest rivals for the top four.

Since the restart, we have averaged 1.6 points per match from 12 matches. That means we are on course to finish with 65 points. Brighton have averaged 2 points a match in their last 12 matches. Keep that up, and they're on course to finish with 68 points. Newcastle and Liverpool are both only averaging 1.4 points since January, i.e midtable form. On their current trajectory, they're on course to finish on 64 and 59 points, respectively.

I think the above is why Levy has been hesitating about sacking Conte, despite the pathetic exit in the cup competitions and Conte's outbursts. Finishing in the top four is king for Levy after all.

As others have said he has to go but what a shit show, it wasn't long ago Arteta was under pressure and rival fans were worried we were employing Conte. Now look at the situation, Arsenal probably going to win the league and us about to embark on our next 18 month cycle, mess of a club.

I'd say a huge number of our fans were excited to get Conte in and Levy gave them what they demanded. Overall though, he's been a massive disappointment, playing horrible, negative football, refusing to commit and unable to adapt to obvious problems. He's been given a good chunk of cash too and allowed to bring in Perisic which doesn't look too clever now. He sulked about Bissouma and Spence when virtually any other manager would have been delighted, constantly plays Son who has been awful all season, constantly picks a setup that struggles to compete in midfield. The list goes on and on. No idea what Levy was on about when he talked about our DNA having gone from Mourinho to Nuno to Conte. Still, it's what the fans demanded.

I think you've missed my point - sorry but there are a bunch of people who don't want Mason but do want a manager currently in a job - I'm interested to know what they think we should do until the summer...
Yeah I did, not sure this problem has a solution and we need to deal with the circumstances as we find them, not what we’d like them to be. A lot of the suggestions I’ve seen assume the Club has too much power (i.e. just give it to Poch on an interim, de Zerbi) and kind of ignore that we are in the scenario you have outlined. We know from experience what this looks like and I think we need to avoid a repeat of the Mason, ten Hag, Flick, Fonseca, Gattuso, Nuno mess at all costs. This should be easier to do with so many options not currently in work and I don’t know why we’d want to risk/complicate it

Key, this. Our current mess is arguably due to trying to appease fans, who Levy knows want a trophy at any cost. That’s why we’re paying Conte over £280k a week to do it and why we paid Mourinho the same. When you look at it like that, it’s hardly Levy’s fault that we lost in the FA Cup to a Championship team. Twice.

another manager comes to us and we break him, like Mourinho sure he will leave and win some trophies, please no Mason even as interim, we need a complete restart from the ground up
After all, how are we going to sell ST’s otherwise?

I disagree. For me, I think Levy views the season's objectives as (in order of importance):

1. top 4 finish
2. Getting into the knockout stages of the champions league and then see how we go
3. FA Cup/League Cup

I think Levy would have said this to the managers and they have followed this accordingly. If he was serious about winning trophies, he would make the FA Cup/League Cup a priority.

I agree with the football being poor and not adapting, but I don't blame him for not committing and he wasn't given a good chunk of cash he was given players he never wanted. There is a big difference.

That’s fair, but would he sack Conte with us still in fourth if that’s the case?

well he can still ignore even it goes public, he just cares about the profits anyway
True but if he said something in private, it definitely would get swept under the carpet - at least in public, it's out there and contributes to that disaffection.

There is a big split in the playing staff right now, that's the main problem, and why he'll probably go.
Can’t say I’m really surprised when apparently he thinks half the squad are selfish and the other half aren’t playing.

Again highlights the underlying problem, when the manager has a choice between Ndombele or Winks. :X3:
