But of course they do. Those teams were oven ready, world class squads. But at the same time Jose's second Chelsea squad downed tools on him, and Conte's had had enough of him by the end of the second season as well. I don't think there's anyone that complimentary of Jose at Man Utd.

And Poch's team? There's only, what, 5 players left there? Kane, Son, Dier, Davies and Hugo. I don't see one of them being selfish. If anything they've kicked on.

Nuno barely got his feet under the table. He was expecting to be given the Kane warchest and do a proper rebuild. He was on a hiding to nothing the second that fell through.

Conte has an almost entirely new squad and he still browned them all off.
You're talking about squads on one hand but then on the other only mention Poch's team. Vs Saints last weekend we had 10 or 11 players in the squad who were here and played under Poch. Nearly half the squad. So it's not 5.

How many are on the board? A dozen?

Take any 12 members on here and you will have differing opinions on who is their top choice. I don't see why this would be any different at board level. If they all agreed some would complain they are just "yes men".

Damned if you do....
I get your point but it's not how others clubs work. How do financial execs have any say in footballing matters. We've had this ridiculous transfer committee over the last 10 years or so making footballing decisions but that decision should always be the DOF and managers choice. They should have a say as to whether we can afford them or not, but that should be the end of their input. Certainly not arguing between themselves as to who is the better footballers and fit for the team. They are the reason why we've wasted hundreds of millions on players, and why our wage bill of assets out on loan is off the frigging scale.

I'm genuinely struggling with regular starters from Poch's squad. Lucas?

A piece from David Hytner

"Conte repeatedly talked of the need for time and patience; how this team was not ready to win. Why then did he only sign a 20-month contract if winning was the one goal? Conte’s desire to turbo-charge his way to glory always felt like wishful thinking; to live the upside of his typical cycle – arrival, huge investment, silverware. Was Levy ever going to authorise the kind of big-money signings he craves? He did back him to a reasonable degree".

Can't say I'm devastated. For all the hype, this season's been so underwhelming, and for all the blame Levy gets he wasn't the one talking the club down constantly, playing the same dull football and not using the signings he insisted he didn't get. I don't think he'll walk into another top-tier job any time soon; chairmen would've noticed his tendency to completely burn bridges. It can't *always* be everyone else.

And whilst I obviously have sympathy for him for his personal problems, it would be nice if he (and others) extended that benefit of empathy to the rest of the squad.

Yeah. We know the players can be weak so in a way we need an arm round the shoulder type manager but can rattle a cage or two. Those have always been better - Jol, redknapp, Poch.

Was he fully backed? Probably not but he certainly wasn’t mugged off either. Fact is it wasn’t a good appointment, was never the right fit and we’re cleaning the mess up now ready for the next bad appointment, or maybe we’re due a good one now but that could be the whiskey talking.

Apologies, I'm wrong on the match day squad, but the squad in general still has more than 5.

The 5 you mentioned plus Lucas, Sanchez as well. Tanganga, Sess as well played/were here under him and never progressed at all either.

Skipp too but he's progressed well.

Oh well another one bites the dust…. To be Cont’ed.

From my own personal point of view I can see only one single thing preventing this calamitous season from getting any worse and that is for Man City to win the PL.

because he thought he would get more than he actually got. Lets be honest when it's public knowledge previous managers have asked for certain players and ended up with Saha/Nelson/Rodon etc etc, you'd have doubts you'd be given what you needed also.

Not everyone is convinced by Nagelsmann.... lol who are these tossers and who are they waiting for?

I'm not convinced by anyone, football is not an exact science is it that's why we have around 10 sackings a year in the premier league.

Nagelsmann has gone to Bayern a big club and failed, we're a big club too hence the doubts.

We are a big club technically but not remotely on the same level as Bayern.

If I built up and owned a club I would feel that I have a right to have my say.

You don't think this happens at other clubs?

Well, when for 20 years you achieve next to nothing on the pitch perhaps you'd think to yourself perhaps i need to do something different here. Not double down on what hasn't been working.

Lol, forgot Sanchez... is he likely to be here in the summer?

Did that other three ever play in that squad? Sess arrived injured.
