6.5hr drive back from the game or you watched it on tv and in anger went in a drive for 6.5hrs?
I was away from home in Virginia, watched the 1st half then drove home, angry all the way.

The lack of effort was just appalling, but just thinking about how we got to this point was also infuriating.

And deservedly so!

It's fucking beyond obvious the formation wasn't the issue.
Doesn’t help when you play a wing back at RB, a terrible RCB at LCB in Dier a 35yr old winger/wing back at LB and let 20yr old Pape Sarr be their protection in front 😂

Our club is a mess on the pitch and that is effecting us on the pitch no matter the formation or personnel.

So you watched a first half of football then had a long drive nothing to do with football but made out like you’d been to the game?

I wish it was beyond obvious. Too many people still thinking a back 4 was the way to go with this squad - when none of our defenders, bar Royal, are really suited for a back 4.

Even Romero is better suited to his role in a back 3, than in a CB pair.

How did I make out I'd been to the game?

I actually assumed it was widely known I was a Yank.

I figured a 6.5 hour drive would make me forget the game...it did not, I got home and was still angry.

You think the players took it personally and then deliberately played a stinker?
Nah, this result was born from many bad decisions. But could it have had an effect on their willingness to dig deep or push themselves? No doubt in my mind.

Forget it mate. I’m just pissy about today. And it’s the first game I chose not to watch this season. It was a laugh to see the updates on my phone earlier but now it still feels shit. Got tickets for utd on Thursday with my lad. Just feels a waste of time.

Listening to Trippier, Rose and Redknapp, they don’t seem to hold much fondness for the club, whether it’s the fans, the owner or just the whole thing

Don’t be silly
😊
I admit I posted this a bit tongue in cheek but I stand by the basic tenet of what I said.
Newcastle were walking through us with very little effort, the set up wasn't working at all, our defence was all over the place with no protection in front of it and credit to Newcastle they played it perfectly.
Once we went to our familiar formation we were more comfortable. I don't buy the argument that Newcastle sat back and put their feet up once they were five up either it doesn't work like that, their tails were up and they were after more goals, I accept that they weren't having to bust a gut after that but we're not talking about a final ten minute scenario.
Last week we went back four and really took the game to Bournemouth leading up to our equaliser and I think the manager thought that was worth trying again but as a first time experiment away at Newcastle it was a catastrophic mistake on Stellini's part.

Not one of them cares. H is already out the door, and probably has the house he scoped out in Cheshire on retainer. Anyone who joined the club in the last 3 years will be on the phone to their agents. Stellini is just picking up the wages until its time to go. All the while Levy is wondering what PR stunt he can pull to generate enough invested interest in the club to ensure he can book some more pop concerts and sell more replica shirts.

No leadership at any level of the club.

Exactly. Everyone who wanted 433 pretty much always pointed put you couldn't do it with porro or perisic.

It's also more than that. You don't get cut through that easily without systematic problems as well as player who clearly didn't know what they were meant to be doing or were completely unmotivated.

Do you really think if we'd have got Poch in this week and he'd gone back to 433 it would have been the same score?
Which one of our defenders are suited to a back 4.

Mate at work has been going on and on about us playing a back 4. I said unless we have Davies and Emerson fit to play full back there's no point. He said "well it can't be much worse than 3 at the back with wing backs". Oh yes it can my friend...
We played 2 at the back with the same wingbacks
