Obv Johnson is more developed then Sess is/was and he has more to his game but idk, I just really struggle to see why so many on here like him so much and are so convinced he would be a good signing. But I take it as a positive that that so many do. I really do hope that I am completely wrong about him.

We often agree on players and I'm completely with you on this one. It looks like a lot of the analyst guys like Tifo, Nathan at the Extra Inch etc agree with us on this too. Everyone is a bit baffled by the link.

I may be alone in this but I’d rather match the offer Chelsea have made for Palmer and try and grab him before he signs for them. I know it won’t happen but we do owe them for Willian.

Palmer looks quality and would be cheaper.

Another thing that's perplexing me, if this guy is a data driven signing...similar model to Brentfords etc

Why are they so far ahead in terms of valuation than us...

Over the last week I’ve tried to go back over as many reports and highlights as I could find in an attempt to convince myself about his suitability but it just hasn’t stuck. Tbh I’ve given up wanting other players as with one day left it’s clearly Johnson or no one, which is absurd that it’s come to this after loosing Kane.

I was actually behind the Fati deal by the end because at least you can see how big his raw talent is even if it comes with many question marks. There was something to hold on to if you know what I mean. Also getting Fati made me less concerned about Johnson because there would be less need for him to excel.

I know that Johnson isn’t a bad player I just don’t think he’s necessarily a good one ether. But like I’ve said, others seem very hyped about it and I’m clearly not seeing it currently so I’m just going to trust that I’m way off with him and put my faith in Ange turning him into a beast.

I still think it gets done. Forrest are spending too much. I don’t see them not caving eventually. Maybe if Brentford offer the full £50 mil but i really struggle to see that. It’s a massive jump from £43 mil including add ons to £50 mil

I've done exactly the same thing. Been watching footage desperately trying to convince myself that I'm missing something and that he will be great.

I've been hoping and hoping another more suitable target would come out in the media for us to sign.

Yeah… honestly reminds me of how I felt about Nuno (as a manager), Richarlison, Sess, Rodon, Vinicius etc. That hope that there’s something you’re missing! Hopefully wrong this time…

Still think this gets done tbf. Complete mess but it would be absolutely shambolic to sell Kane and not replace with talent.

I guess that's the difference with professionals assessing....they've more vision in terms of seeing the raw skill set someone brings to the table, and critically, how that affects the collective dynamic.

As fans we seem to just look at the individual more focusing on their highlights.

But it's all the other variables, the intangibles, that come into play.

I think he gets a move to us or Brentford and doesn't stay.

As you mention Forest are spending too much, and they technically have Elanga that can fill in for him. I think they'll push for Sangare (who would be a really good signing IMO).

However, PSV could also let Bakayoko go (who I actually think is a better Ange system fit) - and wouldn't be surprised if we moved for him if BJ doesn't materialize.

My opinion is that Forest maybe crack a little and come down to 40-45m with better payment terms than Brentford could offer.

Oh 100%. They will be just as clued up about his mentality, his dedication, focus, diet, social groups etc as well as every possible metric both in game and in training. That’s why sometimes we have to just put faith in the system.

I get that completely. But purely as someone who is just a fan of the sport and watches a lot of football I just struggle to see the attraction. Really there are others I would much prefer us sign. But I fully realise that my own knowledge is incredibly limited in comparison and thus quite possibly, and hopefully, wrong.
