How was he defensively?

So so. Got exposed a couple times in the first 15 minutes (most notably for the opening goal) but he was absolutely fine after that.

He’s never gonna be the most solid of full
Backs but that is more than off set by how good he is with the ball.

Royal improved his game over a season, no reason why Porro can't. He seems like a solid pro who will work at it. His passing is exquisite at times. Next level good.

Not great in 1v1 defending, think it makes sense to play Royal in certain games against top wingers. However, in majority of games his general quality on the ball makes him first choice

He got caught out a bit for the first goal but he was also struggling being tucked in a bit and them getting space wide on that side. We started to stop the supply to the wing more and Sarr did a good job tracking over when Kulusevski was upfield or infield. Once we got control of the situation he grew into the game. I think he's really a player who can develop into a top right back. I can see him scoring a few goals too, strikes it so well but gets into good positions. Coming infield from full back gets him into those angles to shoot.

Their left winger gave him some real problems but his quality in attack gives us a lot of options.
