People needs to look at how well he still managed to get to the end of Son's cut back. His body and stance were not the most ideal position in getting that shot but he still hit it on target. More credit to Raya's reflex than to criticise him for not scoring.
He had to readjust to to go backwards to get that shot away, not an easy technique to pull off.
We starved of possession upfront for all our forwards for the first 35 but the scraps he did get I thought he did well, especially considering it was his full debut, in an NLD and playing out of position

Needs to show more desire and intent when going for the ball or making runs.

Disappointed in his mentality today.

It was like he was in awe of the game and drifted through it rather than trying to be a match winner.

Watch any time we broke and how far he was behind Maddison, son or Kulu and the lack of desire to sprint.

I’m sure he will come good but lack of desire was really worrying for me.

His preseason was disrupted by an injury, he will have to get fitter to be able to press properly and still have stamina for everything else.

Personally i still think for now he should be the bench option. Let him use his pace as an impact sub. I know Solomon wasn’t great ether when he came on but he also wasn’t on the pitch with Maddison and Son for long before they got subbed off so it’s hard to judge him too much.

Slightly on the periphery of the game foe me today but coming into a new team and making his first start away in a highly charged game wasn't the easiest of starts. Didn't get to see the ball as much as he'd probably have liked. Got the feeling he may have been playing somewhat safe and first and foremost trying to do a job for the team.

Decent shot on goal which wasn't the easiest to take as the ball was slightly behind him.

He's clearly excellent at getting himself into goal scoring opportunities.
Let's see if he can deliver on them as well.

Seems to be a very good reader of the game. Decent first full PL game for us. Better already IMO than other options for right midfield/wing now Perisic is injured.

I feel the same about him as I did about Richi when we bought him: I’m not sure it’s a good buy personally.

But he deserves time and support. He’s young and seems to have a good attitude.

very hard to read anything into yesterday’s game given the context of the game, the quality of the opposition and how early it all is for him.

The team seem to have a good nose for a player though (I thought Gordon was a ridiculous waste of cash - look at him now!) so I’ll back them, and any player who works hard gets support.

Fingers crossed.

First start for us, away to our biggest rivals in one of the most fiercely contested derbies around. Played on the left which he doesn’t have a huge amount of experience in, and could (should have perhaps) scored two goals.

His attributes are totally different to any other player we have. He is lightning quick, direct and has a great eye for goal. Once Ange has worked with him a bit I can see that left hand side becoming his own and getting a lot of goals this season. I hope he just strained his leg a bit and didn’t pull anything!

Press in the aftermath suggesting it was a hamstring. Obvious point, but really hope it's nothing serious - he seems to have rarely suffered from injuries in the past. Would love him to get a go on that left side.

As you say, with a fair wind, he could make the position his own.

I kind of feel the team that started vs. Arsenal is, Bentancur aside, Ange's first choice...and it looks genuinely strong

He looked like he pulled up and held his hamstring. So would be pleasantly surprised if he wasn't.
It’s a weird one because the physio started stretching it like it was cramp which you do not do if it’s a hammie injury. He walked off the pitch fine

It was the way he pulled up after a run that made me think hamstring. Hopefully it's not that and just cramp. Guess we'll have to wait until later today or tomorrow to find out.
