As others have said the recovery for an ACL injury is mostly in the mind. I only played schools level and armature rugby for my local town, I have broken a leg and done my ACL, the ACL was undoubtedly worse than the break.

The reason why is most ACL injuries aren’t impact, they just happen, usually due to yours studs sticking in the turf and your body rotating. I never played again after I done my ACL cause I always doubted my own body. I was scared to push that extra 10%, thinking I’d feel that pop again. Also the feeling of doing your ACL is actually horrendous, I still remember it 20 years on, It feels like your thigh has dropped 2-3 inches down the inside of your shin. A leg break is just pain. I’m sure he will have the best attention he can come back stronger.

No this isn’t me saying I was some sort of sporting wonder kid, I’m called Donki for a reason.
Feel for you. Did my ACL one summer playing cricket. The first time I went to run on it after it heald it went again. I was 16 years old! Did it again skiing when I was 24. Managed to play til I was 28 then it went again, recovered and played last 6 games of that season then packed it in. I am sure there is permanent weakness / damage from the first time it goes. Hope Bentancur proves me wrong.

Just watched a clip of him from last season and my word, he is going to add some serious class and style to an already impressive midfield.

He's a walking advertisement for the benefits of being two-footed. IMHO that ability to take or play the ball with either foot is one of the main reasons he always seems to have time.

He’s so so good. I don’t get how people have forgotten just how good. A fully fit Benta massively elevates our midfield.

We’d have likely have just about limped over the line in fourth if he hadn’t been injured. We were already playing poorly, but he at least allowed us to breathe and relieve the pressure. Without him we were completely unable to beat the press.

Awesome player. I knew our season was over after that fateful game against Leicester.

I wonder if he'll be ready to play a few minutes after the international break. Our first game is Fulham at home, 8pm kick-off under the lights. Would love a little 5-10 minute cameo just to give him a feel for it again.

Of course if we don't think he's ready then we shouldn't rush him, but I just can't wait to see him in a free-flowing team. The thought makes me giddy!
I think from something I saw yesterday he is scheduled, or the hope is that he join in with full training in 2-3 weeks. Put that into some kind of context, he hasn't done any game simulations, no contact or anything at even close to full throttle for a long time.
He wont be ready for some time and likely to play a few U21 matches to get him up to speed.
I would expect a realistic timeframe to aim for as being towards the end of November before he is in consideration for returning to the squad.
After such a lay off its possible he will pick up a few niggles because his body needs to get used to full training and all it entails again. Fingers crossed he comes back hassle free but at this point if it takes months rather than weeks I don't mind as long as he's back and fit rather than stop start due to rushing him.

Over the last 15 and a bit games, we conceded 29 goals without Bentancur (roughly 1.93 goals per game). Before that, we conceded roughly 1.48 goals per game. That's a big difference in the rate that you ship goals.

i can't wait until he is back, you just forget how silky and amazing he was and that was in a stodgy conte team. Imagine him alongside Bissouma and Madders or Sarr 🤤
