This all Northern Hemisphere semi-final is looking a bit Southern
I agree, it has taken the gloss off the tournament a bit, games like tonight befit a semi or final. It shouldn't be the nature of the draw though
It's stupid organisation
Not really the point after a game like that, but the authorities do seem to have designed this tournament so that the best four teams could never be in the last four

sorry but if yer the best, youll win against all comers, youd had to have beaten them at some point to win the wc. Tourneys never truly reflect who are the best teams any way.
Not even so much about the Irish but the 4 top teams having to face each other in the QF doesn’t seem right the seeding 3 years ago is odd which i doubt they will do again. It's true you have to beat everyone to be champions but every major tournament has seeding for a reason - to have the best teams progress to the end. Seeding this tournament 3 years ago has definitely made it much less of a spectacle.
I guess the Irish can't complain about not being champions but they deserve to at least be in the semi finals and probably the final which would have meant a lot.
Agree. Serious missed opportunity considering the form over the past year or so.I can consider myself a fairly expressive fella. But in all truth, I genuinely can’t really articulate how disappointed the Ireland result has made me. I feel dead.
Current rankings have Ireland at 1, France 2 , SA 3 and New Zealand 4, so we might well have got the same games in the semis rather than the quarters. Apart from ending up with lop-sided semis*, does it really make much difference?
* Not unusual at my age.
It does because Ireland would have grown in the tournament. Learned more. Not kicked to the corners. Taken the points on offer and not gambled so much. They lost the game by beating themselves last night. Had the seedings been correct they would have pumped Wales, Argentina or us and faced nz in the semis. This tournament is a mummers farce.
Whilst I'm not sure it would have somehow led to an Irish title win, it doesn't help that Ireland had a much tougher group with having to play South Africa, and even Scotland.Current rankings have Ireland at 1, France 2 , SA 3 and New Zealand 4, so we might well have got the same games in the semis rather than the quarters. England and Wales having the chance to get to the semi-final without having to play any of the top four teams is pretty daft.
