I'm in a minority here and may be showing my age - but that was a proper old school tackle for me. Didnt see the one before that as my stream went down.

The one before was very similar to Beckham's red card in the world cup. A petulant kick after the balls gone that could've easily been red.

I think he was too fired up. He also played the loose ball in to midfield which set Chelsea on top of us which caused the whole incident of goal/disallowed/foul/penalty/red card.

I grew up watching football in the 70's and unfortunately Romero was born 50 years too late. You can't carry on like that anymore.

If the ref had control of the game he wouldn't have gone. He's been unreal this season. My CB

agreed, Caicedo had about 3 or 4 fouls in the first 15/20 minutes and no yellow. I just checked the stats on the bbc and the chavs had 21 fouls! but all their cards came in the last 5-10 minutes. If the ref would have been stronger from the start it would have been a different game

Very angry with him. But still love him and another opportunity to continue to grow. So far this season, I’ve seen a ton of growth. This absence I’m sure will only help him grow further, with Ange’s help too.

I don't agree it happens too often. He's been great for 10 games so he's improving. This is 1 mad moment but it has just come at the worst time now VdV is out. We must sign a CB in Jan but it's ridiculous we didn't get another in the summer. We will lose Romero for some games through suspension and injuries so we should have planned for this inevitable situation.

Nice post also good points and with the VDV injury tonight also it mabye has caused even more of a reaction against Romero.

Let’s see how he does when he comes back and if he learns from it.

How can everybody be so sure, the ball is loose and he goes for the clearance in a split second decision. Why would he deliberately gone harder in his own penalty box? I think he just went for it without thinking, the game is fast and it’s easy to judge when seeing the replay 10 times in slow motion.
but he needlessly kicked out at someone not long before that where he could have got sent off

I think what sent him over the edge was being pushed over in the build up to their first disallowed goal. It was a clear foul and Oliver ignored it. Problem was from that point on he lost his head, so he’s only himself to blame.

I am done with this idiot.

He will never learn. No hope for him. He will always be this idiot who ruins games & fellow mates.

His naughty kickout on Colwill played into this. Had he not done that earlier, may be VAR would have had some sympathy towards him getting the ball first

World class talent & a world class idiot.

I would sell him in summer to La Liga and get more calmer efficient CB like Tapsoba.

This is not new for Romero. His red was reason for us to go out of CL last season. Now today, we lost 3 players - 1 to suspension, 2 to injuries because Romero thought he is meant to kick opponent rather than playing with them

Two mad moments, really. He was fortunate that his kick wasn't spotted by the ref because it was petulant and deserved a yellow at least. Had a great start to the season, but he will need to reflect and learn from this if he really takes himself seriously as a leader with any ambition.

Firstly, you are well within your rights to be disappointed in Romero. Most fans would be.

Secondly, you sound like a nonsensical arsenal twitter fan when you blame him for Udogie's red and two unrelated Spurs injuries.

Looks like I'm in the minority, but it's his aggression and desire that make him who he is.

He got it wrong today for (I think) the first time this season but I still think his positives vastly outweigh moments like today.

Depends how serious our aspirations are. You simply can’t afford to have players who are prone to this kind of thing in big matches. You can’t rely on them.
