BBC article saying Liverpool playing like potential PL champions after Newcastle win. So to win the PL you have to dive multiple times for penalties??

Man U
Newcastle
Chelsea. 8th/9th/10th
Funny as United and Newcastle were both predicted to kick on this season whilst there was a lot made about a new coach getting that Chelsea mess to click.

Just shows that preseaspn predicitions really are a waste of time.

Yeah Fergie would put refs on blast and under real pressure back in the day.

Any ref going to OT and having to decide a 50/50 penalty is going to favour United cause if they didnt give it, they'd know Fergie would be waiting.

The influence he had was ridiculous and I am sure he got refs taken off United games or demoted due to it.

As a ref that is going to play on your mind.

Jose was the same. Scrutinise and apply pressure, create a narrative "We dont get decisions" blah blah blah.

It then leads to some form of over correction.

I don't think there is a conspiracy nor is there bias, refs just get scared of the scrutiny.

Tottenham. We don't complain and we don't make a bug fuss over these calls, which explains why refs are probably more relaxed about not giving us 50/50s or close penalty calls. They have a clearer head and dont feel pressure.

Yet the following week, they go to Anfield and know that Klopp will rage about it and it'll be hot topic for a few days, so they buckle.

The rightful thing for scenarios like that Jota dive should be - No pen, no yellow for diving. The initial contact was not enough to take him down and that was proven as he took 2 steps before he decided to buckle his foot and go down.

I keep pushing this but they need to budge the rules on penalties, clamp down on it by not giving pens for slight contact in non-scoring scenarios and players will slowly have to adjust and stay in their feet longer.

The football decision makers (FIFA too) just aren't brave enough with it. They let it creep in so much so that it is now considered part of the game and ruined the art of defending.
Martin Atkinson, long serving Prem lge referee , recently retired. He did not referee a match at Old Trafford for 18 months after an incident when Ferguson complained about his decisions.
Ferguson just bullied people and the people who run the game hadn’t the guts to sort him out.
He refused to speak to the bbc for many years after Panorama exposed 3 poor signings by United as being represented in some way By his son , Jason, who was a football agent.
This was in breach of contract that managers have to speak with tv company after games. In theory should have been fined every time.
In Some ways VAR is a good thing in that the decision can be made by a ref not at the ground. So not subject to the usual abuse.
In a recent Gary Neville soccer box he was look8ng at 2 games involving Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. One was away to Liverpool, 2-2 draw. 2 for Jimmy and 2 for Michael Owen. They showed Owens goals and the first was so offside . When the ball was played ,Owen was completely the other side of the defender. No mention of this by the commentator. How many of those did Liverpool get.

From the same player filmed saying "Fuck Brentford" on social media:
If all goes well with Dragusin, I wouldn't mind putting him up against Toney with his aerial ability and physicality.

Last season the March fixtures had a provisional announcement date of January 25th, according to this. I can't find the same for this season, probably because the provisional dates were way off!

Injury statistics for this season so far... we are 7th on the list with most injury-days... of course it doesn't say which players have been hit and how important they are to the clubs and when the injuries have affected the clubs.
(we got a tsunami of serious injuries in a short space of time).

We are 6th in number of injuries.

In conclusion:

- the on field referee didn't think it was a freekick and play went on.
- the VAR room full of trained officials asks the ref to come to the monitor to look at a potential red card offence.
- Ref agrees he has done a terrible mistake, he can see a clear and obvious red card offence and can't believe that he didn't even give a foul.
- The FA overturns the red card because they think VAR was incorrect to call the ref to the monitor and the ref was indeed wrong to listen to them.
- The FA do not comment on what would have been the right decision - no foul, foul, or yellow card.
