As well as watching him for us in the 90s he also took my other love (Newport County) to Wembley twice and back into the Football League after 25 years in non league.
Met him in a pub in Newport once...proper nice guy.
Gutted.
I've coached kids from u9s to u16s for the last 6 years at grassroots and academy level - the points you make are spot on regardless of age and ability.
I've worked with some technically brilliant coaches who get very little out of the kids as they can't put it over in a way which engages them...
Newport fans aren't roasting anyone - tongue in cheek comment which is very mild compared to some of the abuse Sissoko gets on here!
All County fans last night, and from what I've seen on the messageboard, were nothing more than complimentary about all Spurs players. Ali came in for some stick...
I'm actually from Pontypool but have always supported County and spent most of the 90s & early 00s drinking in the Port (Rumours, Ritzy's, Brooklyn Heights before progressing to Rudi's, Le Pub, Murrenger, TJs, downstairs Cotton Club, Riverside, The Griffin, Sugarhill/The Bunker, The Vaults etc)...
As others have said it's not an option. Pity as playing at Wembley would've been a great day out for County fans, more money for the club and probably a better chance of getting a ticket too!
It tends to go in age groups i.e. those who were attracted to the double winning sides, 80s FA Cup exploits then the younger generation due to recent success and Gareth Bale. Plus of course the sons & daughters of people like myself.
Ignoring the 90s we've always played the sort of football...
They usually allow away fans in Spoons but for certain games (Pompey for instance) they're a bit more selective.
They allocate The Queens and The Lamb for away fans.
You still live in Bettws mate?
Genuinely are.....huge, huge draw for County.
My phone has gone into meltdown this evening from both County and Welsh Spurs supporting mates (the latter mostly asking me to get them tickets).
Spurs are one of the best supported clubs in S Wales so there is massive interest.
Your mate's wife is correct
Not unless the ground isn't fit for purpose i.e. health and safety.
Leeds had an allocation of 1300 for yesterday's match so yeah tickets will be hard to come by
