If we are really continuing to be linked to him then it's a bit underwhelming (and expensive) to be honest. Would he get into Man City or Liverpool's starting eleven for example? Do we have any more ITK on this?
Ange has stated that long term team development is much more important than immediate results and CL qualification therefore I'm not sure why PEH is playing if he's not going to stay - unless it's just to piss Bissouma, Bentancur et al off and make them work harder to improve their form.
Could someone with more coaching experience than me explain the 'revelation' by Dier that Conte did 10 vs 0 'walk throughs' in training but Ange doesn't. I would have thought that was an important part of 'tactical' training.
To be fair he did do quite a bit of half-hearted jogging, wasn't winning ball or 50/50s and seemed reluctant to either drive into space or pass more than 10 yards. Something is up with him. Being better than PEH isn't a very high bar.
Which would suggest that our full backs and the back four system as a whole are the ones that need to do some work. Hopefully the coaches are on to it. Do we have a defensive coach and a set piece coach?
Ange would have learnt a lot about his players today. The lack of control was concerning. It's a bit worrying that PEH has become a CM option again in this team. Looks like we may need to spend...quite a lot.
Only taking 13 shots given the wet conditions was a bit odd. If Maddison feels the need to drop so deep just to get the ball rolling then are Bissouma and Bentacour doing their jobs properly in terms of progressing the ball forward? If Son is playing as a striker then surely Maddison should be...
There are ways of dealing with Antonio on their corners and this should have been dealt with at half time. West Ham know they just need to get a corner to create a scoring opportunity.
