People have extremely short memories. The football under Jose at that point was so bad, there was absolutely no way we were going to win that final. A change had to be made to give us half a chance.
I agree. A proper DM to play this system is key, as is having backups for Porro and Udogie. If we can address that this summer i'll be quite happy.
Add a striker to that and that's a bonus IMO.
Although we would all of course want us to qualify for the Champions League, there is nothing wrong with Europa football next season. It's all good development for our players and gets us back to playing twice a week.
I think it’s already shown that our issue has not been about spending. It’s been about spending well and effectively. Most of the signings in the last couple of windows have been excellent. So I expect more of the same this summer.
The manager establishes the gaps/requirements.
The club identify the talent based on data.
The manager reviews the identified players’ character/personality.
Both agree to the player.
The club try to complete the signing.
This is how I see it working.
Managers will come and go. Modern day football shows that it's unusual for a manager to stay around for a significant period. You might get the odd one or two but in general, managers have a cycle of 3 seasons maybe 4. Players have potential to be around for longer than the manager.
