Past this point it's just boring. It's the majority of them who he kept as long as he could.

I've taken out the home grown ones as I already said they were his exception. I am more interested in how the likes of Kanchelskis (4 years), Berbatov (4 years), Sheringham (4 years), Cole (6 years) , Yorke (4 years), Van Persie (3 years), Stam (3 years) , Van Nistelrooy (5 years), Veron (3 years), Tevez (2 years) were moved on to ensure the first team stayed fresh. All of these players were not bit part squad players like GKN or Jansen were for us. They were key, core first teamers. Who were very successful. And were replaced to keep their team fresh.

We should keep Kane all his career. And Winks. Both home grown and both fully dedicated to the cause. But we need to change the likes of Eriksen, Rose, etc.

I thought our team was mentally weak?
Yes. I have said we were mentally weak. After blowing leads against Arsenal and Olympiacos and then playing well only to completely capitulate against Leicester after an AWFUL VAR decision, anyone could be forgiven for calling this current side weak mentally. I also freely admit I said the same thing against Saints after the red and the Hugo fuck up. I was fully prepared for a capitulation. As was probably everyone. But we didnt. We ended up coming together, scored off a brilliant corner, defended well snd managed to gain a foothold for the final 15 minutes to dust it off. It was an impressive display and one that was much needed. I feel the team proved to themselves they could do it. Hopefully that was a turning point to the season.

Maybe don't make so many knee jerk reactions then.

Ok

Berbatov was moved on after he hit 30 and was very much a bit part player by then. Making only 12 appearances in the league that season.

Kanchelskis had a falling out with Ferguson, nothing to do with ability or strategy.

Sheringham was in his mid-thirties but was offered a contract, but refused. No attempt to move him on.

Cole, was a bit part player when he moved on. Becoming 4th choice.

Yorke bit part player when he left. Possibly frozen out because of a rumored falling out in his last season. But had already began to lose his spot before then after some poor performances.

Van Persie - not sold under Fegerson but rather under van gaal. Wasn't a starter when he left, but rather was used in rotation for two successive seasons. Left in his mid-thirties.

Stam - Valid but 'JAAP STAM WAS THE ONE. Without a question, I made a mistake there'. - Alex Ferguson

Van Nistelrooy - Valid. Though again, partly caused by a falling out.

Vernon - He never performed well at Man Utd. Flopped there. Never actually established himself as a starter only used in rotation.

Tevez - He was loaned to Man Utd for two seasons. He was offered a contract at Man Utd, but refused and made the choice to go to city.

Being generous I'd say maybe 4 of those prove your point. But that is a very generous interpretation. You always had to be on Ferguson's side, if you turned against him you were out. He did refresh his squads a little bit, though the core of a team would only infrequently change, and infact if you at his sides the players outside his core often were not all that good but offered useful things for the squad and their deficiencies were masked by a super-strong core.

He didn't normally just discard big players in refreshing his team. Rather they would be phased out and eventually let go. People like Stam were let go only because a lot of money was offered and he was deemed replaceable. Not as a preplanned move. The thing is I think Poch does want to refresh the squad. It's just for whatever reason this hasn't been possible. He clearly wants some players out and some in.

So I have my first piece of ITK.

To surmise. Poch returned to pre-season (post UCL final), with what has been described as as “attitude problem”. His usual player centric mantra had changed and in doing so, upset a lot of the players. Namely Kane and Alli.

Subsequently Levy has had to field several disgruntled player one-to-ones including an irate Kane.

As it goes, Kane being the most disgruntled and bemused player serves Levy with an ultimatum. “He (Poch) goes or me...and by January”.

Levy calls Poch for crisis talks and to thrash out what’s changed. Poch’s team have Utd on high alert.

Do not be surprised to see Poch replaced by Xmas. Will no doubt be interesting to see how this plays out.

Right....

talk to mods before posting. Also this seems incredibly unlikely....

This reads like fanfic written by our rivals. What they want to be true. Mainly because of the Kane focus. Who seems to be one of the most focused players we have atm, but also because that's who they'd want to be upset about it.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe. For one I didn't think Poch had "people"
I think you’ll find most sports men and woman have agents. Whether that’s a super agent like mendes or more of an adviser.

Don’t think this is a secret nor is it outside the norm.

You may wanna check your facts and figures from football manager. ??

Only way this happens is if Poch's attitude problem also came with brain damage as he would want it to go to Utd as they are on the decline and don't look like the giant they once were.

Who said agent? “People” can be close family & friends or merely an adviser?

Do you seriously think Poch sits round the table and thrashes our his own contract?

Number crunching with % increases and such like?

Deluded.

We aren’t like scumbag Chelsea who’s player power reached ridiculous proportions when Lampard, Drogba and Terry were there! I can’t imagine Kane being so disrespectful to the manager and club with demands like that!

For every story like these there's a Saido Berahino, Leandro Damiao or Michael Ricketts where fans throw a hissy fit because we didn't push the boat out far enough to get them in and then we look back on things and laugh. Ultimately, you make judgement calls on whether they're worth it or not and some you will get right and some you will get wrong.

I'll remind you that Liverpool were in for Sigurdsson and Dempsey before we came in in 2012, then after we'd blown all our budget on those two and Adebayor, Liverpool moved for Coutinho and Sturridge in the January transfer window. It's not just about money, it's about good scouting and also being prepared to sometimes take a gamble on a raw or unproven player.
