I’d give GLC a pass for this game as he hasn’t had much game time since joining us. I’ll reserve judgement on him after he’s had a few starts. Added to that, there were a number of his team mates who were off their game today.
How does he get a free pass? He looks like he couldn't be arsed.

Not a true reflection of his ability but GLC showed tonight why he isn't getting games in the PL, some damning stats.
Frankly, we hardly had the ball. The criticism of the front group I find a bit harsh, because they really needed to pull some magic out to succeed.

His body language is so fucking obvious already - in training, sitting at bench in games with no emotions, not much interactions with other players who don't speak Spanish, not defending today etc. Some body language police here just chose not to read too much into those and accept them.

Absolutely spot on, mate.

His performance was the most disappointing of all this evening. At least we know Eriksen doesn't care any more and Dier has lost whatever ability he had.... But honestly, I was hoping that GLC would give us some reason to believe that he can help us. Instead, he simply looked like he didn't want to be here.

GLC is a central player. Some players look terrible out wide. I think he's one of them. Sometimes you get put out wide at first to get used to the football.

The annoying thing about it is Mourinho more often than not managed to change formations for big games to help nulify a lot of the problems we've had so far, but he changed nothing about us since he took over. Maybe it's too early, but the Wolves game could be very telling. If we defend with the same shape in that game I'll be worried because Wolves will open us up time and again.
6 games is no time to rearrange a defensive structure AND make a team dangerous in attack.

Jose has obviously decided that making us dangerous going forward again is better short term because it'll get confidence up.

We will need a break before the defensive organisation improves.

For a manager that is supposed to be a tactical genius, I'm seriously concerned that he thought playing a midfield of Dier and Sissoko against Coutinho, Tiago and Kimmich would work.

Yeah but who are you suggesting should have played cm in this dead rubber game instead?

He probably didn't. He cares only about winning competitive matches. He was obviously taking a long term view of it and assessing who is good enough to play going forward.

The reality is everybody will forget this game by next week. Had we come here with our first XI, got a draw or won the match, what would he have gained or learned? Just a knackered team to play Wolves and retaining a lack of knowledge of some more players in a competitive environment.

Way to miss a point. This was a reserve game, dead rubber. Bayern played a full strength team. He said over and over again it was a chance to figure some things out. He didn’t think that it would work, he was trying out. Jesus

The way we're attacking has not and should not affect how we've been defending. It's not as if we're sending 10 players forward and playing gung-ho football and are getting caught out on the counter time and again. We've generally only have five players in attacking areas anyway. That's not a criticism of our attacking play. I'm been dying for us to play this shape for years now and it works. It's when we have time to get into our actual defensive shape that the problems occur.

We were miles apart from their class. Yes, we played some fringe players tonight, so did they do so to. Son missed at least two great chances. Let's hope we do not come across them again this season.

Yea agree with that mate. I’ve been very pro jose so far but that performance did concern me slightly as yes it was basically our B team vs their A team minus Lewandoski BUT as you say their midfield 3 vs Dier and Sissoko was a recipe for disaster.

but I think jose picked that team to give certain players match fitness and to rest others and he’s trying to keep us playing the same formation and shape until he’s had more time to coach the team properly BUT I have to say we got utterly dominated, especially in the 2nd half bayern completely controlled the game.

it shows quite a few of our back up players are a long day off that level but also tactically we got outmanoeuvred which is a tad worrying as that was an issue for jose at man.u when people said his style is outdated and he can struggle against a high press high possession side.

just observations but let’s see.
We also need to buy a top top class mobile CM or mabye 2 and it shows our need for a proper big back up striker.

Would rather have Henry Hoover play in midfield instead of Dier as he offers more mobility.

But at least he offers some protection and discipline. No shock in my opinion that our performances have generally improved since he came back into the side.

That is just wrong, only two groups out of eight would ten points not have been good enough to qualify for the knock out phase.

We wouldn't have had ten points in most of the groups.
I'm very surprised there are people that doesn't agree with that.
