I listened to the Poch nonsense time and time again. If he said that he really didnt know why he couldn't motivate them or come out with a way if moving the ball quicker up the field I would have had respect instead of excuses week after week blaming everything except himself.
Contrast that with Jose who has been more than reasonable and honest with his words

End of the day it was team knitted out of neccessity of resting key players main focus for the weekend and giving few a chance to impress who havent had game time, JM made it quite clear without being to blatant in the pre match presser. Knitted together with bit part players, young ones and a few that dont want to be at spurs, it was never going to be a great game from ourside, but defo a learning experience for certain players and the JM to them in action.

Mourinho wasnt interested it winning.Just learning about players he had.
It was much more important
So he learned Moura isn’t tall enough to be a target man. What does he need to learn next, how good Sonny is in goal? Whether Wanyama can play left wing? Can a small piece of cheese put in more effort than Eriksen?

Curious why he didnt play Troy we seem to lack a focal point in attack , someone to lead the line

Very clear from tonight we need to improve the following to play how jose wants us to and win things :
RB back up
CDM
CM
1-2 more paces attacking players
Big Mobile back up striker

5-6 big signings needed
We need 2 new RB’s. As well as 2 new CB’s, a new LB, 3 new CM’s(one has to be a DM) and possibly a WF. That’s 7 or 8 signings. We’re really in a bad state.

What does anyone expect the squad was neglected for two windows that has left us with quite a bit of work to do.

If Aurier can maintain his upturn in form, then I’d say only 1 RB required, though I’m still seeing regular holes in Rose’s game, so that’s still a concern.
We don’t know the future of Jan and Toby, but I’d expect at least one to sign on to stay now, so probably only one CB needed (needs to be a LCB at that for our balance).
Skipp showed more in his cameo last night than Dier has in his return to the team, just his mobility and enthusiasm alone showed more urgency in our play. We do need a genuine mobile DM to replace Dier and Wanyama, but could that free Dier become the CB option instead???
CM, I agree Sissoko isn’t the answer, but I’ve not seen anyone really show up in the double pivot so far, I do think we’d be better served with a 433/4312, having any two from Winks, Ndombele and Lo Celso flanking a genuine DM, provide more solidity in the middle of the park, but with the security of the DM they could push forward like a No8 as the attack requires, so we’re not all sat too deep. We seemed to get outnumbered in this area last night, not sure if that was down to just having two in there, or because the two we had lacked were less mobile as a pair compared to Bayern. could look for another CM if we see Lo Celso as more of a No10.
Then play with Alli (Lamela/Lo Celso as backup) as No10, Kane as the focal point, and either Son or Moura given the freedom to partner him in the channels, that’ll get the best out of them. Make use of Parrott for increasing minutes off the bench as Kane’s understudy, and whether we look for another Son type forward (Son seems more capable of playing both wide and central, where as Moura looks like a wide player that will on occasion drift infield), maybe that’s something as ‘nice to have’ rather ’need to have’ at this point.

1 RB
1 LB
1 LCB
1 DM
1 CM?
1 WF/CF?

Just got to hope Mourinho’s mate from Lille is working ‘off the books’ for us in identifying some French or Portuguese based talent. Or equally is Mourinho’s other mate Jorge Mendes going to offer the same type of service he currently gives Wolves?

It’s not the choice of Moura that I have an issue with, it’s playing hoof ball up to him to get flick-ons, when that’s clearly not his strength.

With Sissoko and Dier in midfield there was zero chance of us playing through Bayern with their intense pressing.
Mourinho clearly had some ideas and some of them clearly didn't work.
I won't judge unless I see them again in a game that actually mean something

There's been a lot of love for Troy during the week. Debut against Burnley, the ball from the Premier League match, praise from teammates and the manager, press writing about a possible CL debut and even a start in Munich. That's a very long red carpet for a 17-year-old.

I guess Mourinho wanted to send him a signal that nothing will be that easy. He has a habit of doing that.

So erm with the ball we look ok in the front third. We got in two or three times in the first half and could have scored three or four. Then again they could have had six or seven./.

Without the ball we look shit

Defensively we are not that great even against teams inferior to Burnley

Oh and this fuckin hoofing has GOT TO STOP.

I suspect the two DMs would win th eball and we attack from there but the thing is our DMs are a bit shit.

Were you complaining that the hoofing has to stop when Toby played in Dele for the goals he scored a few weeks ago?

A well placed long ball mixes things up. I'd rather that than the incessant Poch tactic of playing it out from the back, us having 90% possession but all of that being Davinson Sanchez passing it back and forth to the other defenders and goalkeeper. And us losing the ball fucking about with it at the back, conceding a goal and losing 1-0.

Hoof.

Skipp should have started.

No point starting Dier against Bayern as nothing learnt from it.

If Skipp is given chance he may save us having to get a player, although we still need at least one more central midfield player who can play the defensive midfield role.

Left back wise don’t forget we have Cirkin who is said to be promising.

I don’t have an issue with the selection it was a dead rubber. Disappointing to see such bad performances from many though.

what Jose will see is we have an excellent alternative to Son on the left hand side. I also don’t think it was the right environment for Troy. The game was gone, if he didn’t bring on defensive players in Skipp and Wanyama and went with Troy instead then it could have been 6 or 7 which is no good for anyone. His opportunity will come

Just the tactics that are incoherent. Long balls up to the shortest player on the field? Genius.
We were forced into that as A we had no one else we could play up front and don’t say parrot he’s not ready for that and B they pressed and hassled us high so we were forced into hitting long clearances as our midfield was shite compared to theirs.

Parrott isn't ready to play in a meaningless friendly like match? You're speaking crap I'm afraid.

What I find encouraging is that Jose must now know what all us supporters already knew
(a) Walker Peters = no
(b) Rose = no
(c) Dier =no
(d) Eriksen = no
(e) Mora =iffy
(f) LoCelso =unproven
(g) Sissoko = cannot play as a holding midfielder
(h) Foyth = thumbs up
(i) Sessegnon = Thumbs up
Overall a lot learned and he now knows a few he cannot rely on .
