What did he do for the rest of the game?

It's not enough in such a key position. Compare him to Silva (either one) or De Bruyne, give them an inch and they'll punish you. A constant thorn in the opposing side's ribs. The number 10 needs to be a player that you need to be constantly worried about to give the players up front some space.

Why do Kane, Son and Moura get marked out of games? Because defenders don't worry about any type of guile from our current midfield so just stay in position and double up on everyone else. You don't need to mark Alli because he's unlikely to punish you outside of the 18 yard box.

Classic player is shit because they aren't as good as the best players I can think of argument.

Not relevant.
It merely highlights 'Not a football brain who can pick a pass, or spot the gap in the final third in a 4v3.' as complete bullshit.
It is bullshit in that he absolutely can do those things, in broken play or when an opportunity presents.

But the rest of the time his game is worse than a gap between highlight moments suggests, because he relies on hiding from other players to surprise them. Unlike Eriksen and Gio who effectively say "I'm willing to recieve the ball in front of your set defence, and I'm going to try and break you down somehow anyway", Dele doesn't seem to even like getting it in that situation. If we played mostly on the break he might be a better No 10 than either of them but obviously as a top 6 team we can't do that for him.

Very happy with that first half. He and Winks have both been good, but Gio has been the more productive of the two having had Aurier in good position's.

From the BBC London commentary it sounded like he had a more than decent 1st half, bit quieter second. Growing in confidence and form?

He's just so very very good and is only going to get better. Said at the time. Best signing buy our club in years. Assuming we make it permanent. Obviously he will have off days and on days. But he's so talented.

Really like the lad, so comfortable on the ball, excellent work rate and just a clever footballer.

I really hope Mourinho is sold on him now. I dread to think how much more turgid that performance would've been with his drive and guile. Superb player.

A shining light in a sea of shit.

Really pleased he's almost forcing our hand to buy him permanently because it would be truly counter productive to let such a talent slip through our hands.

Let's hope Winks isn't out for long because those two together could at least form a partnership and base we can build on.
