Typical - playing the mental health card.

Are you a millennial or just a general snowflake?

I really feel for Danny with regards to his mental health. That is very sad, and I hope he is now ok.

But your mention of it has NOTHING to do with respecting him. His mental health issues had nothing to do with the fact he threw his team under the bus a day before a season. It’s because he is a self-centred attention seeker.

PLEASE don’t try to throw in your sympathy about his mental health as a way to gain ‘likes’. It has nothing to do with the MULTIPLE times he acted like a cock.
Do you really think that peoples mental state has nothing to do with how they behave or what they say?
Interesting.
Not saying I dont have a problem with him mouthing off but you have to be a bit more understanding due to his issues imo.

Threw his team under the bus, acted like a cock? Really?

I guess that’s a fair point. Perhaps his mental health pushed him to a point where he thought he should slag off other people (his employers and team mates) to a gutter tabloid.

I honestly don’t know if that was the reason.

I don’t think it was, but hey.

He said he was better earlier in the year and then shortly after he released the comments about running his contract down.

It looks like he has again gone to the press about problems with Jose and the squad. He could be mentally ill again. I don’t know.

I bear no ill will towards Danny, and wish him well with the rest of his career. The reason I'll be pleased when he leaves is because he represents the old guard, and we need to be building for the future. That and the fact that he's obviously not been happy for some time and a fresh start will do him good, as well as his current teammates who are bound to have been affected by it to some degree.

But maybe let's leave the mental health chat to one side. I'd imagine very few of us are really qualified to talk about it.

If we get shut of Rose and Eriksen this week it does feel like we're heading into a bit of a new era now. The reality is we need a bit of rejuvenation. If we keep on making progress in the summer i'll be confident about next season.

I can’t wait for the exit interview when he slams Spurs for putting up with his shot for way too long.

Such a shame, on the pitch he’s been one of my favourite players for a good few seasons.

Yeah his shooting does usually leave a lot to be desired.

Bear in mind it depends on someone's definition. It's a word used (hyperbolically) by some people to casually to describe how they feel when they are looking forward to a cup of tea and realise there's no sugar left, or that McDonalds aren't doing the Texas Stack any more.

I've also witnessed people say "I don't know if I've ever felt depressed before" or "I didn't know I was depressed until someone pointed it out" etc. Sadness and disappointment are not mental illnesses, and can be completely justified and normal. People who don't know or understand what depression is will mistake the two (actual depression and semantics) and sometimes do so for the wrong reasons, which can then give a bad impression of what it actually is. So if you have never experienced yourself or anyone with actual depression, I could see why you would maybe see it as a trivial thing.

It's something I've suffered from for the vast majority of life (partly feel like it was something I was born with, but mostly due to experiences) and it's surprising how completely oblivious people are to the signs of it, especially the 'experts' who are happy as long as you tell them what they want to hear. When you live with it long enough you tend to get better at hiding it, and when you do so it is normally an over-compensation - being chatty/bubbly, smiling and so on. That can often be what confuses people about depression, as you can hear a lot "you don't seem depressed" etc. Beneath all that, your day can be like a game of snakes and ladders with emotions, which can make you do or say things which are not always well considered.

There will be luckier people who won't understand Danny's behaviour, and some who will. I don't think he's done anything especially bad, just ill-judged. It doesn't necessarily excuse it at all, as his interviews will have undoubtedly had an affect on the team. Doesn't seem like anyone has a bad word to say against him though (seems like people who know him/in the media say he's a really nice guy), and you have to wonder what his family/agent are doing (assuming they're not advising him otherwise), as he's ruined his career a bit with it all.

It's not even the football aspect really, but generally as an adult you figure out (hopefully soon enough in your career) that sometimes the very best thing you can do for yourself and your team is to get your head down and keep quiet - sometimes it isn't about whether what you're saying is right or justified, but what the point of it is and what it will achieve. In Danny's case, it hasn't really helped at all.

If he moves to a club where he'll be well looked after, in an area that's more friendly/supportive (newcastle feeling like a good fit) I think it'll be great for all involved. I just hope he can draw a line under the feeling of resent he seems to have towards everyone in football (or mostly spurs?).

I think he was just referring to one aspect of football. It's a bit like me moaning that I'm looking forward to retiring so that I don't have to get up at half five in the morning. It doesn't mean that I want to retire now, just that I hate that part of my work life. I do want to retire now though.

You are exactly the problem- stoking the rot that has settled in around here. You are paid to get up at half five- so just put your head down and get on with it rather than- like Eriksen and Rose- airing you grievances in such a public manner!

I really hope Mourinho does the right thing and clears Eriksen, Rose and Nailsy the fuck out of our club.

End of the day the club would have supported him had he had an innate desire to stay, and have also have demonstrated patience with his ramblings.

It appears that it is best for all involved for him to move on and reach his potential.

I wish Danny Rose nothing but the best if and when he leaves. He gave his best football years to our club. I was happy to see him become a England regular whilst playing for us. I've never had a problem with his honesty.... We fickle as a fan base.. When a player is blowing smoke up our backsides or the clubs we lap it up.... Just speak honestly on your feelings and..... Well you've read some of the comments here.

I hope a move to Newcastle happens, for his own good. He gave his best football years to our club. Gave his all for that shirt when on the field. Had good games, some outstanding games and some poor games... The same can be said of many a player and current fan favourites.

I found his honesty refreshing, said as he sees it and feels. Same with Eriksen I had no problem with him and his contract issue. They signed contracts and fulfilled their ends of the deal.
