Whenever someone says this, I direct them to the Stambouli thread, where the transfer was announced when the thread only had one and a half pages.
Probably only had another one and half pages more before he left again

Thank god there is no setback drama so far and its all looking well so far.

Or will baldy present us a cheap Steven-Kevin N'Bergwijn solution :unsure:

Good signing, I wish we signed Olmo who is even less expensive and perfect replacement for Eriksen but Bergwijn is certainly a good prospect and will give us more pace.

With the news that José is looking to develop a style of play based around fast attacks, I think this makes more sense to be honest.

Have we bought him for wide right, CF or ACM seems to have covered all areas this season?

It seems like our transfer policy has turned a corner. Wait for the right targets rather than work down the list, especially in positions where we're not in desperate need. Though, we now have a like-for-like who can replace any of the front 3 and not drop in quality, which is something we have lacked when you look to Mourinho's bench

Someone's probably already posted this over the 52 pages of the thread but now we've ditched Eriksen it's only proper that we sign another player who fans can't spell the name of even when they see his name on the back of his shirt every week.

Expecting a ton of Bergwine, Bergwjin, Berjwijn and all sorts of other combinations in the near future.

Done :)

Off topic: PSV are broke apparently and they'll use the money to buy a new left back, which the desperately need. Probably sweetened the deal a little. Dutch media reporting Patrick van Aanholt will join them for about 9 million.
I bet Dan the man tried to include Danny Google Rose in a deal, where PSV would end up paying us an mount plus burger van in exchange for Rosie

Some of the blind hope and positive assessments in that thread make me uncomfortable.

We could sign an avocado and convince ourselves that under Jose's tutelage it could be turned into a top class defensive midfielder.

Don't write Stambouli off yet. There's still time for him to make a comeback.

The fact that he got a move to PSG still baffles me

As long as he has brains to go with his pace then I'm a happy man. N'jie, GKN and Lucas (partly) are evidence that being quick and having good YouTube highlights means naff all if you don't have two braincells to rub together.

Not that he's a perfect facsimile for either, but he's much closer in playing style to Eriksen or Lo Celso than N'jie, GKN, or Lucas. A very creative player who is much more comfortable creating chances for others than scoring himself. Not much of a crosser like GKN or N'jie, floats in from the wings and creates in the center of the pitch.

And has a high ceiling. This is a throwback to signings we made four or so years ago. Potentially he is very very exciting.

If we move to a 433 as I hope, don’t see a natural place for Dele

Left/right side of a midfield 3.. On Saturday he played there wasn’t great but still could of had 2 assists and his run made sons goal!

If we play the inside RW/LW to allow the full back to get forwards like we currently are he can play in there and drift inside. New CDM with Ndombele Lo Celso either side, Dele Inside right Son LW Kane ST and Aurier effectively playing as a RW would be very nice.
