Think we might have found out that Tanganga gives a lot of the same as Ferguson would have

Ferguson’s areas of development are positioning and defensive awareness... two things we can do without for our nervous defence lol.

Disagree. Tanganga will be a CB primarily.

Probably. Are you sure Ferguson won't? He's played there recently.
Just saying at the moment they are very similar, long term maybe not, but how long term is Mourinho ..

currently:

Ferguson has played both left and right back and is expected to also cover centre back. Tanganga has also covered all 3 of these positions. As to what becomes his main position only time will tell.

The main difference, and this is my opinion/guess obviously, is that Tanganga will be a CB that can cover the FB position. Ferguson will be a FB (primary right) that can cover CB.

One of those deals where we won't know the ramifications until we know who we sign instead and how well he does in the prem. I think if he's really 4 mill then we must have something else in mind to ignore this one.

I agree Tanganga has the qualities to be a very good centre back but for now and may be the next couple of seasons I think we’ll see him rotate right across the back. If however we manage to bring in a quality left and right back during the summer then I would look to integrate him into a regular centre back as opposed to using him fleetingly as a full back.

Just because he can play there shouldn't stop us from having rb as no1 priority in the summer. With both JV and Foyth potentially going he will have plenty of chances as a CB, should he continue to impress.

They'd take game time from each other though this season and likely the next.
Could easily turned into a case of just one or even worse non of them making it.

I reckon that Tanganga will be getting time at RB behind Aurier/ another experienced RB until he’s deemed ready for CB, so signing an unproven young RB of this type is not in the thought process for a good while yet.

I thought the same thing about Foyth, who is afterall playing for Argentina at RB.

His transfer hasn't gone through yet. Suggestions on the Athletic that there's been a hold up somewhere.

"Suspect it will all become clear on Ferguson this morning. Clearly complications prevented it going through yesterday. Watch this space."
