Absolutely atrocious footballer. How can people defend him?

He has a lot of good attributes but what we need now, more than anything, is defensive stability/reliability. We have too many error-prone and reckless players. Maybe a few years ago Aurier would have thrived but now we need to tighten up.

Another game, another insane formation dragging midfielders out to cover for Aurier.

Defensively he wasnt the best yesterday but going forward he offers a fair bit and has looked dangerous.

I do like Aurier I must admit but yesterday wasnt one of his better games from a defensive view point.

Look in all honesty when you have pressure teh way RBL put on us and the way we approach games where we sit back and invite it - then mistakes will happen

We won't improve and get more flexible with such average Full Backs.
I can do with Serge as a squad player. But thats it.

He sucks defending, maybe if the coaches could convince him to stay on his feet and use his body more, like Winks and Ndombele do, instead of these crazy-legs-tackles he seems to love, then I'm sure he'd be a thousand times more effective with his pace and strength.

But he's mental and I love it, we need a bit of character in the squad and he's 150% character.

Not usually one to bump threads, but in amongst all of them that was pretty disgraceful tonight. Numerous times jogging back with zero effort, including two occasions where their left wingback ran past him and crossed to put the ball in the net.

Agreed. Doesn't have the mentality to play at the top level.

Really, really, really wish we had kept Trippier and ditched this clown. The problem with seeking bargains from the misfit bin is that you invariably end up with a team full of misfits. If he survives the summer transfer window I will be very disappointed.

I’d be shocked if we bought 2 RBs so I’m sure he’ll be back by virtue of we have to.

Was expecting this thread to be another 4 pages long today but it looks like people have become so used to him being an utter clown that they’ve become apathetic towards him. I can’t believe that Jose would continue with him given the constant stream of mistakes that lead to goals. Can’t wait for the day that he leaves to be honest but again who in their right mind is gonna want to fork out £20 million to buy him let alone have him actually want to leave.

We did. And there are plenty of other idiot clubs out there.

A major divider between average and good players is their ability to consistently make the right decision during a game. This is done in real time situations in the actual game. Smart players have the ability to assess risk. They will be aware of their opponent game to game and have a personal strategy to deal with particular players be they Sterling Cantwell or Traore. I don't sense Aurier doing any of this. His 'jog trot' recoveries get me down. Replace with Aarons

He should only be allowed to play on the right of a front 3 and never in defence. The only thing going for him is he puts in a decent cross now and then and may win the odd header.
