What happens if we get a spread of 8 players with it come June/July? Postpone games again?

Wouldn’t even take 8 players. Just one person which can include coaching staff toDoris the tea lady, if they’ve been around the team then technically the whole club would have to go in to isolation.

Football has sold it's soul to TV money , shirt contracts, official tyre sponsors , hotel partner , special mattress partner, etc etc etc , now it's payback time, I have little sympathy for any of the big clubs.

The FA have started the ball rolling by voiding the lower leagues where financial sponsorship and TV money are not such a problem. The PL now have to accept the inevitable that it is very unlikely the season can be finished. Much has been made of the position of Leeds and WBA how they are going to miss out on PL football but what about the Europa league with all those teams still in a position to get into the CL next season ( if there is one ) seeded in Pot 1 , voiding all the competitions in Europe is the only solution .

Bloody ridiculous. All about the money, and sod the lives of human beings. Players are human beings. Closed doors does not make players and staff now immune. They will still be exposed to family and friends, and more. The whole thing is totally disrespectful and distasteful, as well as disturbing. Null and void the season! Delay next season. Anything short of that does not convince me the authorities are concerned about our well-beings. Just the well beings of the financials, and potential legal ramifications etc. Says it all

Playing against government advice would be madness. Sport like any other business needs to toes the line. This is not even about our country but the world

just void the season and make sure you have cameras at anfield and sky studios to capture the moments of despair. the sales of the resulting dvd would make up any shortfall and probably eclipse trump's 2 trillion dollar support package.

Thing is, what's gonna happen when the second wave hits in the autumn? (which it will). Is the season going to get postponed again?

Football won't resume until 2021 IMO.

Watching the MOTD top goal scorer thing last night, it hit me that if/when the season gets null and voided, that will presumably mean individual goals and assists will be wiped, which will not help Harry catch Shearer's record.
Secondly, does it mean that the Poch sacking didn't happen and he is still our manager?

No.....and would have meant any players who have moved would all go back also, which would cause far too much issues!

If the season if void, do city keep the cup? Their name is probably already in it! If they do goals scored will be kept also.

What's the source for this 2nd wave?

Sounds like the tennis authorities in this country are planning to cancel Wimbledon. If that isn’t going to be played in the summer then I can’t see football being either. Tennis is only up to 4 players while those involved in a football match day is 10 times that and that’s even before you consider all the coaches, analysts and physios on the sidelines. So the likelihood of it being present or the chance people would become or be infected is even higher.

All records so far would remain. The record books would just say “season incomplete” for each league. It’s the smallest part of the problem moving forward though isn't it really. If they continue the season at some point in the future I’d say any victories for teams would feel pretty hollow. The integrity of the competition has already been destroyed, restarting it wouldn’t help.

They won’t play against Government advice. If the government says we they can’t play then they won’t!

We all want football back - its been a long 2 weeks without it particularly when no other sport to watch.

But the Premier League, TV, FA, clubs, sponsors etc have to be realistic - this pandemic is bigger than them and affects us ALL

Any thought of starting the league end of June is self-centred and considering only their position. This thing will still be with us and any match played requires medical staff who are better served elsewhere.

The 19/20 season will need to be voided. All parties are better served sorting a financial solution that appeases all, without millions wasted in legal fees. There will be winners and losers in this scenario (sorry Liverpool) but if they do not see the inevitability of this then the ramifications could actually see next season not commence on time and several clubs go out of business. The money of TV and sponsors will play a big part in all this but they should all consider the bigger picture and be thankful for existing for unfortunately there will be a number of fans who will not be around to watch any more.

I’m assuming not starting next season on time (if it indeed does) is more costly to everyone than not playing out the remainder of this one. If it comes down to that then money will talk.

When the head of uefa is saying this, although he says there’s 3 options on the table, then it’s only likely to go one way. They need to set the rules alongside governments if you ask me.

The other thing that really swung my point of view yesterday is City apparently claiming Arsenal are behind the letter to CAS asking for their ban not to be suspended pending appeal. Arsenal are rather unlikely to get 5th if the season restarts. But they did finish 5th in 18-19, so if the season's voided and City are banned they'd get Champions League. To me this very much suggests City and, if it's true, Arsenal now expect the season to be voided.

I don't see how City get back in the Champions League when the reason they got banned has nothing to do with this season?

FA statement for non-league states

“The season was declared null and void after the FA stated the results had been *expunged* with no promotions or relegations from any division.”

Expunged = obliterated or completely removed.

Doesn’t sound like the FA agree.

Originally the plan was for their appeal to be heard before the start of next season. But because of the pandemic, the Court of Arbitration for Sport hasn't been holding in-person hearings, and in all likelihood this case will prove too complicated to complete over video conference especially with the need for paperwork to be investigated etc. Therefore, if next season does start as normal or normal-ish (e.g. somewhere between August and October), a decision will have to be made over whether City are banned, or whether the ban is suspended pending the eventual outcome of their appeal.

The PL have to be shown to be doing what they can to meet contractual obligation. PFA are very much against any football being played for the foreseeable, even if they haven't yet come out and said anything concrete.

Games will not be played behind closed doors or in any other fashion until it's deemed safe to by experts, no matter what the PL, UEFA or FFA want to happen.

Fact!
