Is Willian the kind of character of experience we need? Don't have the feeling Willian is a leader that really gets us forward as a group.

Would rather get Eze and give him game time. Someone who is hugnry to reach the top.
Hard to say. He seems the kind of guy who can be a sub and still perform when called upon. That might be enough to make him a useful asset.

I think we've enough of those. We need players to be signed who go straight into the first team at this stage rather than clogging the squad up with more of these kind of players. We've enough of those already.

Possibly. For me Moura will never be more than a squad player, if he was sold then Willian could be a good short term replacement. Squad players are often relatively short term. Chadli was a very good squad player as he got goals and assists but he was never going to want to be a squad player forever.

At the moment our attacking players are Kane, Son, Bergwijn, Alli, Sessegnon (assuming he's not seen as a left back), Lamela and Moura.

So I guess if we are looking for funds and to add a first team level player to the squad we could sell a player or two and bring in Willian on a free. If we don't sell then Willian wouldn't be needed.

Don’t think some people can let go that he rejected us once

This is probably true (I know I’m guilty of this anyway) but there’s being rejected and there’s being at the training ground ready to sign a contract then jumping in a cab and going to Chelsea rejected. The latter will always leave a more bitter taste.

For me though it’s more he’s just nowhere near as influential as he was 5 or so years ago. Loved him as a player, though, if we had got him under AVB things could’ve been different as he was that good a player.

Yep, what he did was definitely a full on dickhead move.

But for me that shouldn't be a main factor as to whether we buy him or not. He seems to be a good professional, has ability and doesn't mind spending time on the bench.

A dickhead move 5 years ago is something we should be able to move past.

Singlehandedly demolished us at white hart lane this season. About to turn 32 but is reputedly super fit, so may well have 3 good years left in him. Pace is clearly still there. Experience of winning trophies, excellent vision and flair, and would undoubtedly improve our attack, and even if he didn’t play every game, he’s good left right or centre so our depth with him, Son, Dele, Bergwijn, Lamela and Lucas would be exceptional.

On a free in a time when spending vast sums is going to be difficult, I see only upside. Even just one good season at the start would make it a good signing.

Good points.

A concern would be about any decline. Davids was exceptional in his first year then struggled in his 2nd. Parker was excellent but appeared to decline quickly. We have just seen Vertonghen decline quickly.

1 year deals would be the way forward for me.

We should have a bit more dignity , ffs

He basically fucked us right over, always plays against us like he hates us, and probably only wants to join us because he wants to stay in London.

fuck off.

We should talk to him and his agent. Agree wages, bonuses ect. Then show him round the best stadium in the world. Then take him to the training ground. Meet some of the players like Lucas for example not to mention Jose. By this time he will be creaming his load at the prospect of signing for us. At this point Levy says to William and his agent come into my office to see and sign the contract.

This is where Ryan Fraser has just signed on the dotted line and Levy tells Willian to get the funk out of his club. That's all I ask.

At least he won’t be able to hear his own fans booing him if we aren’t allowed in the stadium!

Plus if we signed him it would mean he can’t score against us!

He’s better than Lucas and Lamela. That’s enough to convince me. Neither of them would have played the games he has and had the influence he’s had for Chelsea over the last few years. Also, despite being older he’s much more reliable fitness wise than Lamela. Lamela may be 3-4 years younger but I’d almost guarantee we’d get more use out of Willian over the course of a season. And I understand he’s not endeared himself to us over the years. But I’m certain as soon as bangs one in or puts one on a plate for Harry no one would be arsed. I’d rather get a good player for nothing than stay bitter about a failed transfer from over 5 years ago.

Once people get over the whole Chelsea thing (most have managed to with Jose) then you see us being linked to a top level creative midfielder, with 3/4 trophies, and plenty left to offer. People trying to convince themselves that he's over the hill are forgetting that pearler he scored against us last season.

Gallas played for both Chelsea and the Gooners, but brought us vital CL experience in that awesome season where we beat both Milan's. Fuck, Jimmy Greaves started out at Chelsea.

If we sign him, watch him play great for Jose and the crowd cheer him.

Nothing to do with him playing for Chelsea, more to do with us flying him over for a medical, and him jumping into a taxi and fucking off to join Chelsea
Classy
He is an absolute bellend who should never be allowed anywhere near our proud shirt.

I direct my ire of that incident at Chelsea and Abramovich's contempt for the sport.

Having said that, if we don't sign him, and this is all just bobbins as usual, then I'm not fussed about that either.

Remind me, who was the manager at Chelsea who convinced him to jump ship?
