I vastly prefer the theory of Ndombele to Sissoko or Winks but those two at least run themselves into the ground for the team, as does Dele (who has more than enough credit in the bank considering what he’s shown he’s capable of across several seasons). Ndombele has shown that he has unbelievable ability but also that he runs out of puff after a quarter of the match. That is why it’s his fault, because that is inexcusable, regardless of adapting to a new league.

I’d have no issue with him being off the pace (besides, I don’t think we wasn’t) and out of rhythm, what I have issue with it people raging about him not playing and saying that it’s because Mourinho doesn’t like flair players. Today we started with Son, Dele, Lucas and Lo Celso on the pitch, what a bunch of workhorses right? No, they’re all attacking, skilful, entertaining players. They just also happen to have shown themselves to to be dedicated, professional and hard working. Ndombele didn’t with his fitness levels, so that’s why it’s on him. He might have addressed that now, but that gives him no divine right to play, he’ll play if and when the manager trusts that him to play and if that never happens, well he should’ve been able to last a half of football when he was needed to while our squad was decimated by injuries pre lockdown.
I agree with you, but as well as being talented, Son, GLC, Alli and Moura are also definitely workhorses - they all put in a shift.

He's testing him. He doesn't believe he's quite ready to do the job so he wants more.
He wants to know if this is just a short term change in application or if the penny has really dropped.

Most coaches won't give a player minutes just cause he's been working harder for a couple of weeks. They need to show that they keep working and don't start sulking cause they didn't get a chance. Jose needs to know he can truly trust him.

You're twisting that extremely, he said that him and Eriksen had a conversation and had an agreement on how to move forward and could rely on his professionalism.

rely on his professionalism? Not on the pitch, he was shocking

Jose has never been one to lie to the media just to placate a players ego, he has consistently let the media know if he is unhappy with a players application, he scorned Shaw in the media mere weeks after he came back from a broken leg so I don't see how it could be for appearance sake and we have to trust what he says at face value.

The noises we were hearing from the like of Alasdair Gold were positive and that Spurs have no intention to sell with Jose then voicing up himself. So it sounded like lockdown was a turning point. There's always a carrot and a stick approach to dealing with players and we need to find ways to keep him heading in the right direction, egos need to be massaged even if it's just getting back on the pitch.

Evidently he's the exact sort of players we need considering we needed an own goal to open up a poor west ham team so we should be trying to integrate him sooner rather than later.

But it takes longer to rebuild trust than a week or two of training. I think some people forget what happened before lockdown, this guy was hanging on by a thread and peak Mourinho I feel certain would have binned him off for, whether us fans agree or not, repeated silly bollocks stuff and not having the qualities he holds dear in players. I am just not surprised at all if it's a bit of a road back for Ndombele and he's put through the wringer a bit, and I also think its fucking barmy given what has happened so far this season that a lot of posters seemingly thought he'd be starting matches first week back.

Yeah I agree with that, that’s why I feel a few minutes would have sufficed just as a nod to heading in the right direction.

Ndombele is an unusual player. I’d say that Lo Celso and Winks are very similar players, with Lo Celso clearly the better player right now. But if we are going to make Lo Celso our main CM, then I’d want Winks as our back up, not Ndombele. Ndombele, right now, is plan C or D.

I would like to see him playing because he has talent, but it really is unacceptable for him to be so out of shape by March that he cant last for 30 minutes! I'm 46, admittedly pretty fit, but I fancy that even now I could get to a sufficient level of fitness to not look exhausted after 30 minutes! I might not have the ability/sharpness to play at that level but I could certainly run around for 45 minutes and not look I'm going to collapse!

I'm not sure what's up with the lad, but he needs to have some professional pride and get himself into decent shape.

Mourinho denying any rift in his presser:

Part of me wants to forget this story even came out and move on but it is still slightly ominous and I guess there is a chance that Mourinho is saying this to protect his transfer value if we are planning on selling him.

We need to take Jose at face value as he's never given us reason not to and there rumours coming out the club thats hes not for sale. It might be a bit rocky through end of this season but if he's still here next season then that will be fantastic.

I love players like Ndombele and the way he has played in brief patches for us are why I love watching football to see players like that so I hope things can be worked out.

I'm sorry, a reliable reporter, from a reliable French paper, don't run this story if there's nothing in it.

I remember hearing similar "bullshit" comments after the Mail reported Kyle Walker told Poch he wants to leave.

The stories about Ndombele telling Jose he won't work under him are surely bullshit. If that were true it would have been Skipp on the bench.

I meant more re the notion that Mourinho is anti flair. He’s not, and those players prove it. Of course they all also work their bollocks off. Ndombele didn’t. I hope he gets a chance again to show that he can, but if he doesn’t I’m not blaming the manager. Pochettino would’ve been no less rigid on this particular issue.

How much do you reckon we'll get for him then?

Tell me why he’s decided to share the news precisely a few minutes after the full time whistle in a game where Ndombele got no involvement and not earlier in the day, considering he says this “meeting” took place earlier in the week, e.g. yesterday?

Lets be honest, he is very talented but his professionalism, fitness and general attitude has not been of the required standard yet. If he has now decided not to play for the manager then he can fuck off in the summer.
