As @synththfc says, 23 Dier's appearances were at CB in the 16/17 season and also, all but 3 of Sissoko's were on the wing.
As @Flashp said, he played mostly in midfield but did fill in elsewhere too. Walker, Vertonghen, and Alderweireld played over 30 times each. Rose and Davies 18 times each. The back 4 was settled enough.

The key point is we had strong midfielders. Not attacking mids filling in there. Proper midfielders. We should try playing a couple again instead of forgoing that central battle.

If we had a more conventional right back option then I could see us fitting Ndombele and Lo Celso in the team more often. As it is we need a midfielder to cover the right side of the pitch, which leaves us more exposed in the middle. I really think Aurier is a massive problem and his forward play is not good enough to justify the imbalance he causes.

Seriously though, if Ndombele doesn’t start vs Bournemouth, literally the worst team in the league, I think he’s finished here.

Jose will never play NDombele unless we are losing and completely out of ideas. He will never put him on if we are level or only one goal up.

Yep, I think L'equipe ran a story just this morning that Levy had to have a meeting trying to convince him to stay and that there was interest from Barcelona & PSG.

Mourinho hasn’t allowed him to start here. If I was him I’d be off to a team that wants to play football. He was probably on the bench happy he wasn’t playing in that absolute shower - and therein lies the issue.

That is too much money in transfer fee and wages to be left on the bench. 50m of transfer fee and 200k a week wages could go to way better use than this. A decision needs to be made soon.

Then maybe he should dry his eyes and show the same desire and work rate, cos Sissoko shits on him in those areas.

That's the trade off isn't it? We have a hard worker in Sissoko who does fantastically well one minute and then ruins it all in failing to execute a simple pass. Then there is N'Dombele who makes those things all look easy, sitting on the bench, presumably not hungry for it.

A little quote I read earlier from Dier: "Mourinho is someone, for me personally, who knows how to light the fire inside you. I want to win for him. I want to do everything to succeed to try and win with him and he builds that within you."

So it works for some, but not others.

Can not wait for a 50m signing to maybe come good one day in his game without the ball.

If someone pays close what we did to Lyon (for whatever reason) we need to sell.

For that money you could get out and get some decent players in the corona market. And we need quite a few that can put in a shift and pass a ball with using their brain.

What a waste of talent. I believe we've handled Ndombele horribly.
You might be right. I genuinely don't think half of us will know the truth behind what has gone on this season with him away from the pitch/training ground.

As people rightly point out, he is gifted.

Thoroughly frustrating.

Agree...the kid has world class potential just feel he is not Jose's kind of player and we won't see the best of him or even see him play for us again. If he leaves before Jose does it will be an epic fuck up.

Got to the point where knowing we will go 1-0 up means we won't see him as we won't dare try and build upon that scoreline in an attacking sense unless it's a counter.

I wish some of you supported Tottenham Hostpur Football Club as much as you support a player who when played has shown a real lack of desire.

As a fan the first and foremost thing I want is to see respect for the club and yourself. Ndombele has shown neither.
