truly awful game of football we are a side bereft of confidence to many sideways passes no one really showing for the ball I would say some players are hiding a bit we scored a goal when we had a few players in the box which perhaps is a lesson in itself

Just need ti all over really but I would quite like to beat that lot down the road before we call it a day

All attacking players will be looking for a move. Would you enjoy playing like that. Alli, Son, Kane, they dont wanna play like that. They'll go, JM will spunk the money up the wall and be sacked by xmas.
At least thats what my tea leaves are telling me.

Don’t be ridiculous

As much as I’m not enjoying the football under Jose and don’t really think it’s going to work out with him here, what he just said is spot on and one of the reasons imo why we haven’t won anything.

Basically, we’re too nice and not demanding enough as a group of players or as a club.

Let's hope that DL can recapture the old magic and work some transfer window wizardry.

I do think Jose is waiting for more defensive resolve before trusting Ndombele. However if he leaves and we manage to get 60m for him, would it really be a disaster? Could get a new CB and CM with that potentially.

True, but if we were 1-0 down you would hope we would support the attack a lot more. You can't attack with fluidity and be compact at the back at the same time. No team does that. I think we have problems going forwards, I mean we tried to attack at Sheffield, but a bit like Everton today, we were unable to get past a very organised side.

Everton also played in a very balanced way, they were scared of the counter and didn't really push forwards. This kind of played in our hands but if they were to push forward, you get more space and counters become a lot more dangerous.

I don't know, we just look so unsure of how to effectively attack and just incapable. We were down against Sheffield United and looked just as clueless as when it was level.

Honestly I just think the performance had nothing or very little to do with Everton, just like how I think Sheffield United were there for the taking the other day. We just seem incredibly unable to build moves together, create good chances and have any attacking fluidity. I just think the football is so far from where it needs to be.

Don’t get me wrong, watching us is painful and at one point during the match I seriously considered doing the washing up :D.

As far as the NLD goes though, performance doesnt matter. Only the result.

Oh yeah I agree, in a NLD I wouldn't care. I only dread it as I really worry for how often we'll get away with playing such poor actual football.

As much as I agree about Mou love in with Moura being unjustified, tonight he was actually pretty useful as part of our industrious performance, gave us much much more than Son and Kane.
He was fantastic in putting in a shift defensively. There is a reason Jose likes him, and even though he is not a world beater, he is a very useful player.

This. I don’t understand all these “I can’t watch posters“. Obviously never saw the 90s spurs ?
They did today mate, attacking wise anyway.

Defensively we weren't bad, but let's be honest, Everton were atrocious.

Having said that, Aurier was very disciplined in defence, as were Dier and Toby, Davies looked the weak link to me and gave far too many fouls in dangerous areas.

As much as I like him, Sissoko really needs replacing. Kudos to him for turning around his Spurs career from where it was, but he's never going to get better than where he's currently at, and he's detrimental to any attacking momentum we may build. But Sissoko shouldn't be singled out here, our forward passing is abysmal, I lost count of under hit passes, passes played behind players forcing them to check and, ultimately have to pass the ball backwards yet again, lack of movement, no running of the channels ...

Kane did very well defensively, but I was watching him as we went forward, particularly with Aurier on the ball. At first I thought SA was being ultra conservative, but then noted that he had absolutely no one in the box to cross to. You may say it's because the service isn't all that, but that's just an excuse. A top striker has to know that 9 out of 10 times the ball won't get to him, but you have to make all 10 runs to get that 1 in 10 chance. Kane isn't making 5 of 10 runs.

Happy with the 3 points, why wouldn't I be, but I'm not going to get overly enthused about our defence as they were hardly tested, and we still look far too open in midfield.

I'll take the application, concentration and effort as a positive, but only if it isn't a 1 off reaction.

There's not a chance we'd get £60m for him, though in the COVID window. That's the problem. Jose's making him look like an utter bum, so even if people are interested it'll be for a a vastly reduced price.

Let's be realistic - if you wanted us to do a 180 and suddenly play fluid attractive football after (again, let's be realistic) around 18 months, if not 2 years of this kind of football, then we'd have needed to bring in a classic English motivator ("run aaarand you fackin maaags") type like BFS, 'Arry, or Pearson.

While that would work in the short term, they aren't the managers that win you things. We'd end up like the same spurs we've been for 10 years - going to the strip club, seeing the tits and bits, but still walking away as virgins.

Any 'longer term' squad cohesion is going to be a slower burn imo. I mean, we have had everything go against us since the CL final (Amazon, injuries, disinterested manager, COVID etc.) so it's possible that a cumulation of factors is at play. Motivation seems to be key, and you can tell that the fan atmosphere is a big factor with several teams.

I'd rather we finish as high as possible even if it's boring. Get it all over with, move around some players, see how the new season goes.

At the end of the day, we need to win things. I'm a bit fed up of years of being a team who play good football except when it counts - these crappy scrappy games are the difference between us and the teams that have won stuff ahead of us in recent years.

I don't think that Jose does want to sell him.
