Honestly wouldn’t mind giving him a shot in the dm role he played there for Ajax and he played there for his team in Colombia

I’d love to see this only because he could give Sissoko a run for his money regarding how many times he poops his pants when pressured in possession.

I cannot think of anything more hilarious than a player who has weak passing, tends to misjudge headers and average agility on the ball than playing as a DMF

He's only 24, give the lad time, he's improving year on year and will only continue to do so under Jose.
I think he's not consistent enough yet but he was phenominal at home vs Man.U with the amount of defending he had to do.

Mourinho on starting Toby Alderweireld: "We expect them to play with two strikers to try to press the ball - Toby is more comfortable with players in his face. If I'm going to change players because of the match against Sheffield United I would change 11 players." #EVETOT

People can say what they want about Mourinho, but he knows how to kill a press conference. Clever fucker :ROFLMAO:

I’m never gonna be his biggest fan, but we definitely signed the wrong one from Ajax at the time. Hopefully he will come good but I think his concentration levels are not where they should be for a top quality defender

Think he is good enough.

I think there's a decent player in there, I think he could've done with another season at Ajax though, that said for a player that's come through Ajax it's very odd how uncomfortable he is on the ball and passing. Plus he tends to lose the flight of the ball a bit too often IMHO he's almost as bad for it as Kyle Walker was for us. Usually one a match without fail.
That said he was pretty solid for us in his first/second season in the PL, then again we didn't have Aurier then and since then either Toby or the midfield in front him has usually had to bugger off and put out the fire created leaving Sanchez alone to deal with the chasm that opens up in his wake.

Was that De Ligt? If so yes I'd have liked him, although Llorente bullied him so I wonder how the PL would have suited him.
I think he's fine if he has good communicators around him, I think he's lacked that TBF most of team has suffered for that.

Just look at the Sheffield UTD match, Dier stops communicating for a second as does everyone else and Sanchez switched off.

I wonder if he'd benefit from a season at RB or DM to improve his ability on the ball and his communication (perhaps it's too late in his career for that)

All my own opinion.

Told everyone he is shit early doors

Nobody wanted to know

I was with you, and we got spammed to the ground. Fair enough at the time, as he still could improve.

But it has been 3 seasons and he hasn't improved a single bit.

You can clearly see it. He's fast, OK.
But his faults are clear:
- reading of the defensive play
- when he has a ball at his feet
- so erratic
- looses headers and gets bullied against much smaller opponents than him
- and plenty more

His defending against SU was shocking to watch.

I maintain my assessment Sanchez is the best CB at our club. On the ball he is not but pure defending 1v1 recovery interception heading imo he is the best. Funnily enough his best partnership was Vertoghen was good. Sheffield United aside his partnership with Dier is promising also.

Do you really think he's improving year on year? I don't personally I think he's got worse. I thought towards the end of his first year he looked a bit green but showed potential. I don't see that now. There are to many mistakes under pressure but then he is playing in a defence with little confidence to be fair but I don't see a great player in there.

He has a high recovery rate because he has a high wrong position rate and is constantly having to recover...and that's what we remember him for.
He is quick but lacks so much to be a top defender IMO.
