I take it people are forgetting the huge injury crisis we were suffering before lockdown and our desperation for just any bodies who could provide a level of cover.

I think we can safely put him in the "Why the Feck Did we Get Him" category.

Some notable companions in this category
1. Njie
2. Nkoudou
3. Fryers
4. Yedlin

Why do fans moan that we never take a punt on players and then slam the club when they don't work out?

Is it really another 40m to make the deal permanent?

Given the spurs way of operating in the transfer market and that JM will be in no doubt about what areas need strengthening, coupled with the Ndombele issue. I just cannot see Gedson being made a spurs signing. (Assuming its really 40 to make it offical).

I suppose it depends on what JM wants.

It's a 2 or 3 year loan with an option to buy, yes 40 million seems like a lot but also remember that the way the transfer market was heading in 2 or 3 years 40 million could be the new 10 hahaha. Also I think that the quoted 40 million was the maximum it could be with a lot of escalators to get to that number (like winning champions league).

I think the original price (allegedly) was even higher although some ITK or other said that was wrong. Who knows. I'd imagine that has been ripped up due to Covid anyway and I think with limited resources we need to concentrate on much more important gaps in the squad.

I'm sure there are a few Levy type clauses in there that make it more manageable. ( I'd suggest we are already in that hyper inflated player price zone!) But even with all the little Levy clauses and hyped up transfer market, that is still a lot of cash to find, for, if you'll forgive my admittedly premature judgement, a player who is plain average.

Of course, I want him to be amazing and set the premier league on fire, so if JM can see that potential and has a proper plan, then obviously we trust his judegment. But personally, I think the club will want to put its limited funds into more priority areas.

We've barely seen him play yet? I don't understand our fanbase's insistence on writing players off as soon as possible.

Maybe/definitely the worst fanbase in the world for it.

Exactly...especially when a player is foreign. Pretty ridiculous when you think about it, given that we have to take a punt on young players in our financial situation.
