Fair play to Winks for realising where he should be playing, and fair play too to José And team for accepting-agreeing- and moving forward with a set plan and ‘goals’.
PEH
Winks LoCelso

nice balance there I feel.

Also Ndombele and Dele (if he’s seen as a midfielder) to interchange within that.

To have Winksy around is great. He probably won't lead us to a league title or anything, btu he can always put a shift in and at the verly least he is a perfect rotation player for busy periods.
Hopefully with PEH sitting behind him he can finally contribute more goals and assists. He really lacks in that area.

He lacks in goals and assists because he's playing out of position at the base of a midfield and cant get into those positions. I see him as in the Xavi mould not the main creator or scorer from midfield like Iniesta was or the holder like Busquets but the player who is always available and dictates the tempo and is always 5-10 yards from the ball available for a pass or to press if possession is lost. I would hate if we sold him because players with his touch, determination, engine and calmness on the ball are very hard to find and he could be the perfect partner in a three with Hojbjerg to free up locelso/ndombele to just look for the space to be creative. I'm sure in the slightly more advanced role as well you will naturally see more assists and goals. we definitely shouldn't be selling him to city if Guardiola wants him he's a pretty good judge of a midfielder!!

That info sounds great, mostly for the club telling him that he needs to improve on what most fans moan about him for.

Fingers crossed he kicks on.

Winks
From what I constantly heard, as early as couple days ago. He sees himself as an ‘8’. Playing position he played in the academy. Josè agreed, but it was about him playing that position he needs to be a goal threat, and his assists would have to go along with it. And as of then the entire coaching staff with JM were not thinking of selling him. Seeing him as a a ‘Tottenham blood’ kid. And also English born. And to get anyone near his quality (actually less) would be extortionate.

I know things can change, but cannot see it here. Unless! The club is forcing him out, and that is not the case.

Thank fook for that?

Harry's got the vision and passing to play further forward

He's a great example of a team player, doing what's asked by playing in a position he's not really suited to (DM), and from the outside looking like he's not that capable

Hopefully with PEH arriving he can play further forward and share duties with GLC

Great news. It’s beyond short-sighted of fans to judge Winksy on a season where he’s had to fill in at DM and the manager has had to prioritise safety first/low risk football to grind out results.

Definitely worth having a look at the goal contributions of Andrea Iniesta, arguably the greatest number 8 of all time in 2 of the greatest teams of all time. I don't see that kind of contribution as essential in that role (players like Lampard are once in a generation and definitely the exception rather than the rule), but I do see Winksy as essential to keep around. The PEH, Winks, Gio trio in midfield is more than a bit mouth watering. Great ITK that we plan to keep him around.
It’s concerning that for Winks to play the ‘8’ role it requires both assists and goals. Our centre backs have better assist and goal records than Winks. I can see the value in keeping him as a squad player but he seriously lacks attacking intent and his shooting is abysmal. It’s wishful thinking to expect him to suddenly start providing assists and goals.

It's that time of year again when we get idiots banned from here for breaking the rules, then I get an inbox full of messages whining, pleading, demanding and threatening. Read the rules. If you're banned from here, it's not some giant mystery, it's because you broke the rules (which boil down to posting something unrelated to ITK in the ITK discussion thread). Assume you'll never be unbanned, if it's earlier than never you caught A&C in a good mood. Most importantly, stop messaging about it :p

Who: The Goat
When: 17th August
Where: SC

The Goat hears we're interested in Matt Doherty. Aurier leaving would clear the decks for that one.

Also that we're not in for Aarons

Doherty is nearly 29, doesn’t seem the sort of age Levy would want to invest heavily in to me. Good player though
