Nice to be linked with a creative player. Can not see it as long as we are not able to shift some players for some good money to make these transfers happen.
The striker is essential, everything else is bonus, even though we could do with another defender and some creativity/assists/goals from midfield (who don't).

Seeing Benrahma is best from LW does not make too much sense for me. It is Stevies, Sonnys and Sess' best position too and even Lucas could play there. Rather someone who is used to the RW.
This is my viewpoint too. We’re getting to the stage where we are incredibly lopsided towards the left. Unless Jose is planning to use Gio as an inverted right winger with Doherty providing the width (very possible), we need someone creative for that spot.

If we do that I'd rather want another creative CM for the postion next to PEH.

Let's see where this is all leading. Lots of links and interest seems to suggest we are at least very active and alert to the squad situation.

Is it just me that reads "Said Benrahma" in Ringo Starr's voice?

Curious about the prospect of him as he would be fighting for a spot with a lot of other players in our squad, but I wouldn't mind if we bought him and one of our less effective wingers went.

Doesn't exactly fit the remit of a need-to-fill position in the squad though, and the general jist seems to be that we'd need to cough up £20m to £25m for him, which is strange if we could be using that money for another area. Assume they know what they're doing though.

The Goat was weaving dangerously in and out of traffic, half blinded by glare of headlights, he took a sharp left as a hail of machine gun bullets screamed past his head. Tyres squealed as the engine was pushed to the limit, at over 100mph he ran straight through red lights forcing pedestrians to leap aside for safety, suddenly a grenade went off just ahead if him, he pushed hard on the brakes, they locked and he skidded sideways, through a cloud of tear gas to a halt. Gazing up at the pursuing helicopter, he fired two quick shots at it through the windshield before opening the door, gazing at the camera and saying "we are very interested in Said Benrahma"

That better? :playful:

Goat = Ridley Scott?

Who'd have thunk it?

Careful, my little hoofed buddy - thats setting a very high precedent for any future ITK announcement.

Interesting info this morning. Doesn’t strike me as what we overly need but that said, Kane aside all our front 4 are versatile and flexible across a few positions so I won’t get too hung up on things. If he’s a tainted player and Jose sees him improving us then that’s all I need.

Cheers @The Goat . Have a carrot up your bum.

When there were rumours at the start of the window, I commented that I can't see how a 25 year old winger who failed to cut it at Nice, is unproven in any topflight league and has only 3 caps for Algeria could improve our squad, when we already have more strength in depth in his position than anywhere else. His goal-scoring stats in the Championship were almost identical to Sessegnon in his last season in the Championship, yet they played the same position and Benrahma was 7 years older at the time.

All I can add to that now, following the ITK, is that I really hope he's far better than logic dictates.

Just a quick reminder that all ITK should be taken with a pinch of assault.

Add some pepper and some Lemon also, roast the goat for a good few hours and it's lovely :cautious:

At least we are looking at options, maybe not the target/striker we need but would improve the squad.

Benrahma has been very good for Brentford, but it isn't exactly a priority position for us, and with the earlier ITK that we're now looking to sell to buy, I'd be surpised if we didn't prioritise a striker in first.
I think some of the ITK on having to sell to buy is out there because it helps the club's narrative. Nearly every story on us in the media now mentions this and yet in the last week alone we've gotten reliable ITK on incomings across 5 different positions (CB, LB, CM, WF, ST).

I don't think the ITK is pointing at us signing all of these and clearly theres an element of looking at options in case we can sell Ndombele, but there's far too much smoke now to not expect at least two more incomings before the end of the window IMO.

Tbf, it's normally something plausible but completely over-analysed, e.g.

"we are very interested in Said Benrahma"

Someone: "Said Benrahma is an anagram of 'Ha! Arm, Said Ben'. Ben is short for Benjamin, and 'Benjamin' Mohammed was one of the Guantanamo bay detainees who sued the MI5 and won. Mohamed Salah hurt his arm in the CL final and we all laughed... therefore "Ha! Arm, said Ben" is clearly us in for Salah"

Amusing, but happens every time.

Yes, but some players are late developers. He has improved massively since coming to England. I have been impressed by him every time I have watched him.

Look at someone like Mahrez, who was barely pulling up any trees in France and is now a world-class player.

Mahrez was had already produced his most prolific season in the Premier League at Benrahma's age, so Benrahma is either a later developer or has a much lower ceiling - hopefully the former.
