If we were to buy Edouard then he wouldn’t be coming to just sit on the bench.

The beauty of a player like him is he doesn’t have to. He could rotate with Kane or son or Lucas etc in the front 3. Makes more sense than a bale type signing as it’s two birds with one stone and, doesn’t block Parrott down the line

My guess (please note, guess) is that we are doing what we usually do and have a lot of targets lined up. It’s not like we go out there and tell players and agents that they are a second choice, we will have different people working on different deals and ultimately the committee will make a decision on which ones to close once they know the price.

The confidence from Mourinho and JJ suggests that we know of at least one striker who is attainable at the right price range and acceptable to Jose so we can pull the trigger if needed. In the meantime we’re seeing if we can pull off something that is even more favourable/preferred before the deadline.

This approach has never backfired spectacularly on us before so we should be just fine.

I think the deal is done. Mourinho seemed confident enough to announce that he was pretty certain that we would get one.

The alternative view is that it’s not done, but we’ve got 6 or so potential signings with a few that if we pushed, would get done. So we don’t know who the guy is, but we feel confident someone will come in.

Between studying for GCSEs, a bit of fawning over girls they can’t get, way too much time on Xbox and having all their nutritional needs provided by mum and dad, they really don’t have much to cope with.

The Bale stuff is very exciting but it just feels that there’s so many points at which it could go tits up, most of all at whatever point Utd realise they’re not signing Sancho.

You and JJ seem so chilled about the forward that somehow it’s making me more nervous, and I’m the biggest happy clapping see good in everything bsodl wanker going.
Pfft...

We could definitely do some creative accounting with an expensive initial loan followed by a smaller transfer fee to make permanent, thereby reducing the sell-on % to PSG. Which I believe is exactly what we did with Lo Celso for buying Betis, once again screwing over PSG. Not sure PSG are going to like us very much if we screw them over once again!
That’s twice I’ve seen this now and I’m struggling to see how PSG would hold us culpable really. It’s the club they agreed the sell on fee that they would surely have the issue with?

Legally speaking yes, in reality and morally no.

Personally I'm bored of building for the future. Bale is the only world class player we're linked with. I would take him over anyone else for the short term while we have Jose. It's the best hope of winning trophies now rather than maybe in 5 years when the next wave of players hit their prime (as we tried under Poch and still won nothing).
I can totally understand that viewpoint.

We seem to have a different striker “strongly linked” every day now, only for it to become a no-go by the evening.

I’m glad our ITKs are still confident, because I can’t help feeling we’ve been here too many times before.
