That’s wonderful.

In terms of football has there been any other homecoming that has this level of joy and hysteria? I feel it’s a really unique situation and difficult to describe to fans of other clubs. Not even sure it’s because he still has so much to offer, think I’d have been delighted to have him back even if he was 35.

Sometimes players just win your heart I guess, I have so many amazing memories caused by him and just can’t wait to have some more.

It's unique as it would be like a prime 24 year old Henry leaving Arsenal for Barca then returning at 31 when he's still pretty damn good, or Ronaldo returning to Utd at 31 when he was still clearly unreal. We just got lucky/unlucky that we developed Bale into a world class player when we weren't a world class team. Not only that, but it's not often that teams that have to sell world class players like us back then, go on to actually become even better and build on top of that, especially go on to build one of the best stadiums in the world.

Which is why it baffles me the hate the board get, especially Levy. All things considered, if you look back 7 years when we were selling our best players like Bale and Modric, you would argue we were going downhill, selling club etc etc. Look at us now, amazing stadium, can actually keep world class players, a world class manager (Well, serial winner if you want to be like that) and can attract arguably the 3rd best player in the world for the last 7 years (before Mbappe and Neymar broke onto the scene) back to the club (Without champions league football might I add) Thats without mentioning other good deals we've done. Pretty impressive overall if you ask me.

I wish fans were allowed in the stadium.

That moment that he runs out under the lights again.

The stuff you dream about. It would be mental.

I can't think of any signing that we've made that's had me so emotionally involved.

Just ordered a Christmas jumper and T-shirt off the club site and was asked to do a survey....

Just his name being announced before kick off would be louder than a goal, such a shame, but it is what it is!

This has been the best day as a spurs fan since that night at Ajax. So very happy to have gareth back, you can just tell he's so much happier already. Can't wait to have him back on the pitch. ???

I still can't believe it, it still doesn't feel real. The greatest player to play for Spurs (in my lifetime !) is back. Fucking hell.

It’s a real shame but I think if the pandemic never happened, we wouldn’t have signed Bale anyway as Madrid would’ve been more strict about how much of the wages we’d have to pay.

I can handle people losing it that the announcement is taking too long on this thread. I can even just about handle the golf puns and old twitter posts trying to trick us that Bale has signed but please, please, please don’t start insulting my first ever sporting hero and Spurs legend. Gazza is, was always and will forever more be, the greatest player ever! He made me fall in love with football. Nick Barmby a close second ;)

I agree Beckham may have had a better career because he was a boring professional apart from shagging around a bit but prime uninjured youthful Gazza is untouchable in terms of English talent the most natural footballer our country has had in my lifetime.

has anyone thought the buzz Kane must have from this he was at Spurs as a youth player when Bale scored that hat trick in Milan and went on to become the absolute supernova he was in his last year here. Kane must have idolised him and managed to get what 30 minutes of pitch time with him. He must be absolutely buzzing to play with him as equals and we have had great players with each but when was the last time we had two absolute all time spurs greats playing at the same time?
