The Goat saying ( he’s right I’m sure) that the club saw these two signings as opportunist, I find strange. The buzz Bale has created and also Reguilon being high end in a position we could definitely improve on will probably be seen as master strokes by the end of the season . We’ve gone from looking tired and stale even though we have excellent and in some places world class players to looking like we have a title challenging side and squad full of excitement. These signings get an extra 20% out of the squad that’s already there. Keeps everyone on their toes and freshens everything up to such an extent that buying the odd player to improve and do a job can never do. Football is about excitement for the players as well as the fans. It’ll even get the press and media on side and although that could mean not much it actually does because players read and watch it and believe what they read and watch. The lack of ambition and all that crap. I can see us doing great things this season.

I'm not convinced you understand what "opportunistic" means :p It means they were too good to pass up when we got the chance to sign them, even though neither are positions which Jose identified as weaknesses. They're both big improvements though but we have other priorities that are in worse shape.

Sure, I thought both full backs being replaced ( I know Davies is decent) should have been a priority. I also think a superstar or class A player should have been a priority. Every year Ferguson bought a top player, hardly ever a position they were short in as they’d usually just won the league. Liverpool did it to a lesser extent in the 70’s and 80’s. I think most underestimate the importance of what a top player arriving at the training ground does to the rest of the squad. Comfortable squads aren’t a good thing, only my opinion of course.

nothing wrong with a little business promotion

Wow... He renamed his business (not just on SM, all new signage on the front over the door) on the strength of a loan move. No one can be in any doubt, he's here for more than a year.

How many Bale shirts do you think we’ve sold in the last 24 hours? I’ve ordered one and never get a players name. Fully on the bale train ?

If I was in a job getting paid I would have ordered one myself. Bet he has brought in plenty.

Yup me too. Last player on my shirt was Keane about 10 years ago.
Had Berbatov and when he left it really fked me off so I said thats it, these mercenaries can go fk themselves.
And then our boy Kane appeared so I got that on the back of the run over by a motorbike shirt No18.
Bale will be last one. I can do this. No more. No more.
Went for the away shirt btw. Really like it.

I play a footy mobile game and I pulled Bale today, so obviously the Universe knows what's right and just. Also pulled Modric but alas he hasn't returned to the fold yet :(.

The best thing about the Bale interview with Crouchy is that every answer was a week when he referred to the club.

not spurs, not them, but we... he really is back home as it was very natural answers.

buzzing as I k ow he’s gonna give it his all!

Armstrong & Iversen? :playful:

Remember they also contributed ina thrashing of Southampton! ;-)

Was it 6-2?

I was in south stand second half as working on turnstiles back then and they actually let you have tickets for second half when we hadn’t sold out.
