Think this could be the likely scenario. Fact he can cover two position like Davies makes it handy. The only other scenario is if Sanchez were to go.......get the feeling Mourinho maybe isn't his biggest fan but I think he'll hang around this season at least and it'll be Aurier that goes in this window.
If Aurier does go, we bring in another CB leaving us with Toby, New CB (Dias?), Dier and Sanchez with our backup fulbacks also having the capability to play as CB's if needed.
He might not like it, and he might have bulked up a bit, but Dier was a RB too.

I agree with that, he'd clearly be looking to improve on quality. That's why I'm still expecting that if we do sign Dias, we will be shifting one of Dier, Sanchez, Toby, or Tanganga temporarily or permanently. It aligns with Jose's squad demands and makes sense financially. We don't need 5 specialist senior CBs IMO. The recent Dele situation emphasizes the problems created by inflated squads and the stupidity of the Premier League's 18 player squad rule in the modern game [compare to Serie A's 25].

Beyond the two players for each position, I think the club should be aiming to provide depth with our young, developing academy players [i.e. Malachi Fagan-Walcott].

bear in mind this is probably Tobys last season with us

I think people need to chill. A homegrown GK, RB, CB, LB, DM, Striker and fucking Bale is an unbelievable window.

Agree, but if we let Ali go we need to replace him with another midfielder imo. No point letting him go otherwise.

Bashing ITK and discussing their sources.

Like we're going to tolerate that, like we've ever tolerated that. Every transfer window, we do nothing but warn against it.

And the several of you who 'repped' those posts as 'agree' are fucking idiots too. Genuine, world class, dumber than bison droppings thick.

If you look at Ruben Diaz’s Wikipedia page now it says he plays for Tottenham Hotspur. Maybe Levy bought him in the dead of the night?

You probably already know this, but anyone can change a Wikipedia page.

Then again, maybe Daniel did the change...

Its clear we need to push the boat out for a top centre back. Toby is on the decline, Still questions marks surrounding Dier at centre back and Sanchez who I personally think is our best centre back but does seem to make too many mistakes. For me this guy should be our number one target. If we cant get him then skriniar should be our second choice.
Apart from being quicker than Dier and Toby what other attributes do you think he has over the other two ? just interested.

Get Dias . Move Dier to DM . Move Winks further upfield

So we can play with a 3 CM of Dier - Winks - Celso or Dier - Hojbjerg - Celso or Hojberg -Winks - Celso or Dier - Celso - Tanguy ...the combination would be better then what we have now

I think that would sort out our Midfield 3 and give us various combinations that would be effective

Dier/Hojbjerg as Defensivie Mid
Winks/Sissoko/Hojbjerg as Center Mid
Celson/Tanguy/Winks/Lamela as Attacking Mid

With a front 3 of Kane flank by either 2 of

Sess/Steve/Son/Moura

Would sort out a lot of our problem areas

From latest ITL dragon saying if we sell Foyth to Leeds, CCV and Aurier that would pay for Dias - noice!! (although little concerned letting Aurier go at moment as only leaves us with Doherty).

Wow - you really haven't been watching have you. Getting Dier and Winks OUT of midfield has widely been recognised as the best way for us to improve, and yet you want to spend money to get them back in there?

And Tanganga (who can play RB)
Seems fairly simple to me: Foyth and CCV aren't in Jose's plans. If we keep Aurier then Tanganga will be fourth choice CB, if Aurier is sold Tanganga will slot in as backup RB and we'll bring in a new CB.

Personally I think I'd prefer that we sold Serge and tried to upgrade the CB position. We could obviously stand to improve the play of our current CBs, Aurier is full of mistakes and Tanganga was excellent in his appearances last season. I think the scenario of bringing in Dias (or potentially someone the club rates even more highly, as Dragon mentioned) and shifting Tanganga to RB leaves us stronger overall than keeping Aurier and not upgrading the current starting CBs.

Pace is a massive thing, recovery, heading tackling one on ones, on the ball he isn't as good as both Dier and Toby but isn't as bad as people make out. I'm personally more confident with Sanchez at the back. Dier Toby Doherty Davies are very one paced Dier being the quickest
