I have a soft spot for Orient and would like us to perhaps pay what they would have got from TV - i know we arent a charity but to be honest i think if someone said - you can pay 100k to forego the game and get a bye - we would have taken it

Probably save that and more from bonuses we would pay for the game.

We should just auction signed shirts anyway and all proceeds go to the Edinburgh foundation.

I actually think this is a bad thing for us. Dele Bergwyn Lamela etc wouldve got a chance to stake their claim

Re-posting my comments from the General Football Carabao Cup thread:

If teams outside of the Premier League and Championship aren't required to carry out regular COVID-19 testing, should Premier League and Championship teams be expected to compete against them in the cups? Every match risks a top-flight team being out of action for long enough to completely trash their entire season.

Even if the richer, higher division clubs pay for their lower division opponents to test their players before the game (as we apparently did with Leyton Orient), ad hoc testing like this is not an adequate solution. Most people wouldn't test positive within the first five days and some wouldn't test positive until even later. If a team picks up the virus from a League Two game on a Saturday and then plays a midweek cup game, most infected players would not test positive until after the cup game.
This is why testing at airports isn't an alternative to quarantining upon return from a holiday and why Kane had to quarantine for a period after his trip to the Bahamas even though he was tested.

If our cup game does go ahead on Tuesday, I presume that must mean only players who haven't trained/competed with those who've tested positive are playing. Anything else (e.g. only players who've tested positive omitted) would be utterly reckless.

Makes you wonder if we should be testing the semi pro teams we are playing in Outer Mongolia last week and this week.

As a team I agree, but I'm sure a few players who aren't getting game time would have benefited from a run out.

I get that, but we have plenty more games for players who aren't getting minutes to get some game time.

They can still have a chance in the Europa game, with others no longer having to play 90 minutes twice / be involved in 3 matches in 7 days.

Kane, Son, Lloris, Dier, Doherty, Davies & Hojbjerg haven't been rotated yet, so will be happy with Tuesday night off and the opportunity to share playing time with a fresh teammate on Thursday.

I can’t believe that the lower league clubs are not obliged to carry out tests anyway. It’s just asking for trouble.
It’s very expensive to carry out these tests. Lower league clubs don’t have £10k to use on tests everytime they have a game coming up.

I cant see Jose risking anything other than his best team in europa
