Considering it's Tuesday now it's unlikely that any striker signing would play before the international break anyway, Thursday would probably be too soon to get it done and chuck them in now and Kane starts at Utd if fit. I guess now we are just waiting for the best opportunity to arise.

Bit disappointing we couldn't bring in a striker for this fixture congestion but it seems we didn't have a fixed target. I would normally complain but we have already brought in 4 first XI signings this summer and hopefully with Skriniar that will be 5, half of the outfield players! Plus positive signs from Ndombele. This window has been much better than expected so far.

If you were levy right now, knowing how long deals take to finalise and knowing also that due to games today and Thursday.... the squad won’t even do a real training session this week till sat at earliest if at all? Why would you not get the player as cheap as possible?

First things first is obviously telling us we're ready to finish the Skrinier deal not necessarily that it was a priority over the striker. We've still got half a dozen sleeps to get the striker done and with everything else sorted it will have our undivided attention.

I think the ST was always going to be coming in later on ever since the scum won the cup which meant we were not straight into the group stage and the target for the ST could of potentially changed if we don’t make it through, wouldn’t shock me if we pull the trigger on a ST on Friday once we know thursdays result

I imagine the initial plan was to get a striker in for the fixture congestion, but that's a solid point on the Europa money. I wonder if ST simply went down the priority list after the disappointing opening day defeat, or once it became clear Ndombele was not going to be sold.

It'll be on twitter under the general spurs ITK within half an hour anyway, what's his issue?
Perhaps, but even so, in the same way we respect breezers wishes on that we also respect his, I’d rather keep seeing his itk than not. FC don’t appear to have an RO equivalent.

@Mods sorry for going off topic but I thought this thread was the most relevant to make sure his request was seen ASAP.

Yeah, I hadn't considered that. Going off last seasons figures, the games we've won so far have been worth 240k and 260k respectively (in Euros), so not huge money. A win on Thursday would be 280k, and then a base fee of 2.92M for reaching the group stage.

After that, a group match victory is worth 570k each, and a group match draw is worth 190k, while winning the group would be a further 1M.

All in, if we won the Europa League this season, we'd be looking at (based on last year's figure), a total prize money haul of in the region of 22M. So I can definitely understand why not qualifying for that competition would affect who we can and can't pull the trigger on signing - even if it's substantially less than the UCL, the prize money for the UEL isn't to be sniffed at.

For those of us who just sort of fleet backwards and forwards, and don't really know the history of the ITK's, ValenciaYid is one of the really original ones right? Can't remember hearing much from him in recent seasons but he seems incredibly confident on a CB which is good. Is there any reason his info doesn't go in the RO?
He’s now on TFC... he was initially verified here on SC; his info is reliable

He was ITK before SC (606 I think? Maybe SO too.) and was already well-established there with a very good record so never "verified" just like we don't very other established ITKs like Ben, etc.

I don't see the issue. As long as we don't have to play the whole season without back up a week or so doesn't matter. I suspect we feel comfortable that we have alot of options and will probably get a better deal by leaving it late so better to focus on the more specific targets first. Makes sense.

I might be in the minority here, but I'm not exactly comfortable with this mindset of it's ok with leaving the striker deal so late just so we want to get the best deal out of it.

I would have imagined that if ever there was a time that we needed that 2nd striker to come in so badly and urgently, it is now where we are playing games every 48 hours or so. Already, Son is out and Mourinho has already pre-empted of the possibility of one or two more as this week progresses.

If Kane gets a long term one this week, are we comfortable enough to then honestly look back at this week and go "Oh glad we managed to get the best deal for the 2nd striker on deadline day".

I appreciate the financial difficulties that comes with doing deals, especially at this current climate, but I was just wondering could the club have pushed out the boat a little bit more for that striker to come in now, rather than running the risk of our main strikers to get injured even greater, just so we can save a quid or two.

Such a potential season-shaping moment for us this week, success and personnel wise.
