He's a mixed bag for me. Sometimes he looks the real deal, other times he looks shaky and lacking confidence which breeds uncertainty in our back line.

He has these moments. I felt he could of directed that header back where it came from today.

Remember against City he headed it off the bar lol (Mourinho chuckled)

Gave the penalty away last week. It's just we won these games so they're easily forgotten. Gave the pen away in the last minute against the Gooners at Wembley as well.

Yes defenders will make mistakes but composure with good decision making is what it's all about.

I've seen him play live quite a few times and have been impressed so I'm trying to be balanced.

As for today I don't think he played that well up until the OG. Just shaky looking again.

Be interesting to see if Mourinho can take him to the next level and iron out the inconsistency and that kind of unpredictable nature he has.

What is Ledley doing with him? I was excited ot see Sanchez under Jose and Ledley and at least begin to fulfill his potential but he's just going backwards.

I know I'd be targeting him if I was the opposition manager at the moment.

He is far to easy to unsettle and when that happens, his game goes to pot. As though his brain scrambles and just leads to him looking a nervous wreck during the game.
Yup - you could see how annoyed he was at us conceding the first and he clearly blamed himself (even thought it was actually Sissoko's fault) but rather than pulling himself together he completely lost his head. You just can't do that at the top level. You need to believe in yourself and move past your mistakes.

I know some will say he’s still young and CB’s reach their peak late 20’s but this guy has been with us for over 3 years and for a staggering 42m but I haven’t seen any improvement whatsoever. Time to upgrade if we can and Toby’s regression ( especially his lack of pace ) is a major worry also.

I don’t think Davinson has ever looked better than his first few games games for us. Since then he’s just looked worse. I dont really get it. For me, he’d be a player we absolutely could look at selling.

If you watch him live, or pay special attention to him on the tv, you'll see that he's actually a pretty good defender.

His positioning and athleticism is usually good, which means he's in the thick of it most of the time. Which means when he makes a mistake, it's there for the world to see.

It also doesn't help that a lapse in concentration is his main weakness, as opposed to his positioning or athleticism.

When Poch or Mourinho and their coaches analyse his performance on video, they'll see this and that's why he's started so many games. If he was useless he'd be out the door.

All that said, it doesn't mean we can't upgrade him and it also doesn't mean he was worth the 40m+ we paid for him.

Mourinho said he had a positive game today apart from the own goal and funnily enough that's what I thought while watching the game.

He did, he wasn't that bad Just the OG masking things. Definitely needs a leader next to him and can look really shaky at times but I think everyone is going OTT as per.

He looked so good in his first year, calm and assured in big games in the CL too. Since then he has got worse. He has that thing where he doesn't know where the ball is when it bounces up in the air. His strength and speed get him out of some positions that he gets himself into but not all. Plus he doesn't want the ball and can't do anything with it. Disappointing because i thought he would be a great defender for us for years but he just isn't up to it sadly.

All the technical and physical attributes needed to be a top defender you would say are 8/9 out of ten with Sanchez. Unfortunately his composure and calmness are 0. He panics the first few times the ball comes to him in a game but he then settles and looks very good once the game gets going and we are playing well but the panic soon returns when the pressure is on and panic spreads faster than coronavirus in a defence. Until he finds composure in his game he will keep costing us points.
