If Sheffield United go down, I think it's a toss up between them and Burnley who drops with Fulham and WBA, Berge had to stay in the PL. He has so much about him.

I didn't known he could take penalties tbf, that was a huge surprise even to the Norwegian commentator yesterday.
Should have been in for him really. But Poch doubted he was good enough to displace winks and Sissoko. Would have been cheaper in the summer too.

I was banging the Berge drum the whole time we were linked with him, I'd really like to see him and Højbjerg together with GLC or Ndombele in front (given their fitness issues we can't rely on having both available at all times), that would be so solid and completely negate the need for Winks or Sissoko.

Obviously won't happen now.

COYS :censored:

Even a draw would be nice, next 3 fixtures for Everton: Southampton away, Newcastle away, Man. United at home.

Can’t recall seeing Kieron Dyer on a sensible football show but think he’s come across really well today on Super Sunday.

I think Everton will probably win today but the bubble will have to burst sooner or later.

Calvert-Lewin is on fire but he had a similar purple patch last season, scoring in about 5 consecutive games, before completely tailing off and not scoring any in 10. Admittedly he has James feeding him this season, so he'll undoubtedly score more, but I don't think this kind of form is sustainable as he's a good striker but not yet an elite one like Kane, Salah, Aguero, etc.

They've also had a little bit of luck. We missed 2 or 3 great chances in the first half against them before Jose fucked us with a terrible sub, they got a very dodgy pen against Palace, and Liverpool deserved to beat them last week. They're playing well and they deserve to be up there, but they've definitely had the rub of the green too.

Eventually the pendulum is bound to swing the other way.

If they're still in the top four at xmas I'll take them more seriously but honestly don't think they have the depth to finish top 4 anyway. Still think 5/6th for them.

This sounds like what people were saying about Leicester all season when they won the league.

I do enjoy Everton play mainly because I want to see what fuck up Pickford makes this time...

Yeah I actually almost wrote "but then again I said the exact same thing about Leicester".

That was the ultimate freak, though, and one of the greatest sporting upsets... well, ever. Can't see it happening again. Not for a long time anyway.

Its 5 games in though so not really. If Everton are up there come xmas then they'll rightly be taken very seriously.

At the moment all it is, is a good start.

Didn't we win 4 on the bounce at the start of the season under Redknapp at one point? Naturally we regressed to the mean soon after (although I think we may have finished 4th that season?). I expect something similar will happen with Everton. They'll have a good season but nothing ridiculous.

Even then though, West Ham were in top 4 at Xmas a few seasons back then the wheels fell off.
As the saying goes its a marathon not a sprint and tou can twist your ankle or slip on dog shit at any moment.

And Harry Kane since he broke through with what people are saying about DCL. In all fairness to Everton they had a cracking summer window and look to have improved massively under Ancelotti.

I agree with what people are saying about their depth though. If they can keep the form up, fair play to them.

I think Calvert Lewin could end up being an elite striker, but his rise up until now is still nowhere near as explosive as Kane's at a similar age.

DCL already has 119 appearances for Everton, scoring 31 goals. Kane had scored more than 2 and a half times as many after the same number of appearances for Spurs at a similar age. Kane truly is a very special player and DCL, for all his ability, still has a long way to go to warrant Kane comparisons IMO.

Oh he’s nowhere near Harry’s level, but I remember everyone saying he was a one season wonder and it won’t last etc. But DCL has clearly changed his game and worked really hard to improve, not everyone is amazing out of the blocks.
