Ballon D’ier :woot:

Good luck to him but imagine if he starts every game, really will show up the quality of the league.

Somebody give Kane a statue now, he’s doing great things for us even after leaving.

Would really be great for both him and the club if this sorted. Plus him and Harry in Munich would be very sweet.

Also, agree Dier's physicality isn't good enough for the Bundesliga in general. But at Bayern he'd be playing alongside either Upemecano or Kim Min Jae as a partner with Alphonso Davies at fullback to cover for him in behind. Would easily cover up his weaknesses and let him spray passes from the back to their rapid wingers. He's basically just a lesser version of De Light who they already have.

I agree, he'll be covered by better players. But why would a club like Bayern buy a player who'd need to be covered by better players? This isn't a charity.

Fair play if they do sign him, mind. I hope for his sake he finds a move that suits him and he's happy with. Just don't see it personally.

2. I think the idea that Dier would fit the Bundesliga are well wide of the mark. Say what you want about the competitiveness, but the football there is highly technical and, while not as physical, it's played at a very high tempo, with (generally) aggressively high lines and speedy forwards. This style is not Dier's strong suit. He'd actually fit Serie A better as it's physical but slower.
Some of the defending has looked pretty shocking from the little I've caught of Bundesliga though. There's a reason Kane is scoring more than he did over here. Plus Bayern are often dominating teams so I can see him doing perfectly fine over there with them.

I do agree with this. If he was linked with any other Bundesliga club (outside of the Leipgzig's and Dortmunds) I'd think the links were more credible.

Some of that defending is due to the style of football in the league, also in my opinion. We're a good example in that the style of play under Ange may lead to more chances against (and potential errors leading to goals) but doesn't necessarily mean the individual quality of our defenders are poor.

They're struggling with injuries at CB with De Ligt missing lots of games regularly with muscle problems and only just back fit. Factor in Kim Min Jae going to the Asian Cup they're about to be a lot lighter at CB for the next few weeks.

They're just looking for cheap cover it seems. Being linked with Adarabioyo too. Whoever they sign will be 4th option and a Kane friend.

1. If Dier goes to Bayern, he probably won’t get many games (bar injuries) as I can’t see him being first choice.

2. If he goes, I hope he smashes it there. He was my favourite player at one point (around the ‘battle of the bridge‘ era). I love his attitude and there’s no doubt for me he’s given 100% every time he plays.

3. Like many of you, I hate the word ‘Spursy’. But if Dier went to Bayern and won the league and CL double while being there for 3 months after winning bollock all for a decade with us………

I love Dier. Obviously he needs to move on but I really hope he succeeds massively wherever he ends up.

Great point, actually. Completely missed the fact that Kim has gone away for the Asian Cup. Probably why Ornstein came out and said we may be willing to let Dier go for free. Probably Levy, with his new relationship/business with Bayern and Kane's influence, helping to facilitate the move.

One of the saddest things had to be when the club was doing one of its training ground arrival videos, and I can’t remember what the theme of this one was but when Eric was asked about whatever it was he replied with something along the lines of “what’s the point it won’t make the cut anyway”.

It wasn’t exactly that word for word but was sad to see how little he thought of himself

You see how the fans talk about him under any post from the official Spurs accounts and a lot on here and other Social media sites and you ask yourself whether you are surprised.

He was once part of group that we all adored and had so much emotional attachment. He used to be one of those who embodied the Tottenham Hotspur we loved. It has been a rough few years for him and he has been getting so much slag lately. But can never forget how good of a servant he was to us during some of the memorable periods of recent times. Getting a move to Bayern will be phenomenal after all that and I wish all the best for him.

Bayern wouldn't be getting the Eric Dier we've seen recently, they'd be getting a player with a fire lit under him and a fresh challenge and start ahead. Pretty clear to see that he isn't confident at all and hasn't been for a while, this move would give his career a second wind. Best for all parties.

Eric Dier loves me

Cracking song. This is his 10th year with us. He has been a great servant to the club, never shirked from any of the shit that happened over that period and for several years was such an important member of the team that was challenging for the biggest honours.

We all know he doesn't have the qualities required to play the way Ange wants but that doesn't make him shit. Best of luck to the lad wherever he ends up, should be cheered back whenever he visits the ground in future.

I take it Bayern don't play with their CB on the halfway line? If they do then their scouting teams needs their P45s
